Days after being crowned the winner of Dancing With The Stars, the same question continues to come up – Was Nicole Scherzinger too good to be on the show?
One person who believes the answer to that is yes is none other than her fellow DWTS cast-mate Niecy Nash. “I like to see the growth,” says the comedian to PEOPLE. “Nicole today is who she was when she got here — she was a great dancer and she still is.”
Nicole, who beat out Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek and ESPN reporter Erin Andrews, was the favorite from day one, and many fans, including Niecy, feel the show is quickly losing sight of its original premise, which was to take celebrities out of their comfort zone and onto the ballroom floor.
“There were moments you couldn’t tell her from the pro dancers,” says Niecy of Nicole, who received high praises from the judges, even being called the best dancer the show has ever seen by Carie Ann.
“Dancing With the Stars is something that resonates with me when the contestants have a journey. I was such a big fan of Kelly Osbourne last year because she had the most transformation,” continues Niecy. “I cheer for the people who have evolved. To me, that’s what the competition should be.”
