In new court documents obtained by RadarOnline, Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Barney makes some shocking allegations against her estranged husband Simon Barney.
According to RadarOnline, in the court documents which Tamra used to obtain a temporary restraining order against Simon, she alleges she suffered longtime physical and verbal abuse in his hands.
The court documents, issued in an Orange County courtroom September 23, allege that Simon physically assaulted her repeatedly during their 11-year marriage, as “his angry outbursts occurred, and continue to occur in the presence of our children.”
It doesn’t end there as Tamra states she did not break her silence on the alleged abuse until now because she “wrongfully believed that maybe these violent acts could be rationalized, and also due to embarrassment [she] did not report these instances of physical abuse in the past.”
In the docs, Tamra also alleges that last August, Simon told their 4-year-old daughter he wanted to change his cell phone ring tone to the sound of howling dogs for any calls he would receive from her mother.
As reported over the weekend, the Orange County DA’s office has decided to drop the domestic violence charges against Simon due to lack of sufficient evidence. You can read what Simon had to say following that news here.
I don’t like to add my opinion on these types of stories, and from reading the previous comments, it seems a lot of people are split when it comes to who they believe. I’ve made it clear over the years that Tamra is one of my least favorite housewives but I must say I’m more inclined to believe her side in this. Why? Well, mainly based on Simon’s behavior on the last season of the OC Housewives. His very controlling behavior just seems to fall in line with that of abusers, but who knows?
