Giuliana Rancic, star of Style network’s Giuliana & Bill, is revealing for the first time that she suffered a recent miscarriage.
In the latest issue of PEOPLE magazine, the E! news reporter, who has been open about undergoing IVF treatments to try to start a family this spring, reveals that after getting pregnant on her first try with in vitro fertilization, she had a miscarriage at nine weeks.
“Both of us were in shock,” Giuliana’s husband, Bill Rancic, 39, tells PEOPLE. “Failure wasn’t an option!”
Giuliana, 36, adds that she was crushed by the news. “I said, ‘I’m not doing this again. I can’t.’ I was angry at life and at God.” The Rancics also share that footage of their happiness upon hearing the pregnancy news, and their shock upon hearing about the miscarriage will be a part of their reality show, which is set to return on Oct. 11.
“Hopefully we can help people understand that there’s nothing to be ashamed of,” says Giuliana. “It’s such a taboo subject, but it’s a very common problem.”
