Days after Bravo aired the tour bus fight between Real Housewives of Atlanta frenemies Nene Leakes and Kim Zolciak, fans of the show are still buzzing about the showdown.
More details are now coming out about the fight and what is clear is that what Bravo showed on TV was just a tip of the iceberg. In her latest Bravo blog, Kandi Burruss, who witnessed the entire fight, reveals some new details about what really went down. Excerpts from Kandi’s blog below –
“They left out some footage from that Channel 11 clip of NeNe. During the clip the news anchor pulled out flowers and gave them to NeNe saying we decided to give you flowers since we’re not paying you any money. That’s why Kim said NeNe is an intern at 11 Alive… The first part of that argument was like an hour and a half. I don’t see how people can argue that long. Then they calmed down for a second and started back up for another 45 minutes. That’s too much… The bus ride alone could have been a whole episode.”
Arguing over 2 hours? Yikes. And in a new interview with TV Guide, Nene Leakes continues to feel she was the victim in this latest fight, despite being the one who started and escalated the argument. In the interview, which she gave on Tuesday (yesterday), Nene admits the fight wasn’t about Sweetie, apologizes to her fans and family, blames it all on Kim and also blames Bravo and her costars for not being there for her during what she called a difficult time in her life.
“”It’s an embarrassing thing to see as a mother and as an adult,” said Nene in the interview, apologizing to her fans while slamming Kim. “I apologize to my viewers and fans, and to my children and family and friends who love and care about me. …I apologize to them for them having to see me stoop to such a trashy level. When you fool with trash, it can get all over you.”
More excerpts from Nene’s interview below –
TVGuide.com: What was going on with you at that time that?
Leakes: It was a very, very bad time. I was not healthy at the time, and [Leakes’ husband] Greg and I were in a real bad place in our marriage. I really shouldn’t have been on the bus. Everyone that I worked with knew that I shouldn’t have been on the bus — so, they probably wanted me to be on the bus for those reasons.
TVGuide.com: Did you feel obligated to stick up for Sweetie?
Leakes: I’m not sticking up for Sweetie, I’m just saying I couldn’t take it anymore. When I entered the bus, everybody was complaining. They only show me complaining, but everyone complained… Kandi, Kandi’s backup singers, everyone. Yes, Sweetie wants to be talked to that way, fine, but it’s offensive when you around a group of people to just sit there and say those words all day long. By the time Kim said Don Juan and Sweetie should stay at the house, I was like, “No! They can’t!”
TVGuide.com: Because you visited specifically to watch her and Kandi perform on tour, right?
Leakes: Right. But being friends with Kim, if you knew her, you’d know you have to walk on egg shells. She’s always offended. Mind you, she can say anything she wants to say to you or about you — but you can’t say nothing about her or who she’s dating. She can ask you all the questions she wants, and make all the jokes and comments she wants, but you can’t do the same with her. Going into a relationship with her is one-sided. (Doesn’t this sound like Nene describing herself?)
TVGuide.com: Is there something about Kim that’s made you angry in general? You seemed to be more angry this season…
Leakes: I don’t know what show you’re watching, but I think I’ve had a good season. You’ve seen for the past several episodes me working at 11 Alive. Early on in this season, there was a clip of me and Dwight going at it, and one of me and Greg, and the time when I talked to my son, but those things happened awhile ago.
TVGuide.com: But are you considering [returning to the show]?
Leakes: Nope. Right now, I’m just not interested in doing a fourth season. I don’t know if I would change my mind later. With everything going on in my life, I can’t work with a bunch of women who are non-supportive. I can’t work with a bunch of women who don’t support one another. I just can’t work like that anymore. For my own sanity.
Interesting she is now apologizing following all the backlash. And finally, a fan also asked Nene yesterday why she wanted to leave the show, she replied, “No more time 4 DRAMA.” Oh the irony.
Following Nene’s comments that she no longer wishes to do the show, a lot of fans are wondering if this is simply a negotiation ploy though after reading her latest interviews, I’m starting to think she is simply believing her own hype at the moment. With her upcoming appearance on the Celebrity Apprentice, I’m getting that she feels she no longer needs the RHOA. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
