Holy drama! According to the very reputable AJC media outlet, the Bravo network is currently in talks with Nene Leakes and Kim Zolciak to do separate spinoffs with them.
Two sources who are familiar with the negotiations but not authorized to talk about them confirmed the news about the Real Housewives of Atlanta stars to the AJC.
When it comes to Kim, her spin-off show would be about her life with new beau/baby daddy to be/NFL player Kroy Biermann and her new baby which is due in June. Nene’s show would involve her efforts to break into Hollywood after moving to Los Angeles later this year.
However, fret not RHOA fans as Bravo realizes the Nene and Kim are the two biggest reasons we tune in each week. If both shows do come to fruition, Bravo reportedly plans to keep at least one of the ladies on the “Real Housewives.”
And while Nene and Kim are arguably the two biggest stars on the show, Bravo is experiencing a major problem which is that both ladies absolutely want nothing to do with each other following their latest blow up on the tour bus towards the end of season three. You know, the blow up during which the Nene lost her cool for no reason at all, called Kim’s assistant a slave, and even threatened physical violence.
This is likely creating challenges for Bravo producers who began shooting season four earlier this month, and would like to maximize interaction amongst all six cast members especially between Kim and Nene. And just as we speculated, Kim’s recent baby shower was indeed filmed for the upcoming season and Nene was not in attendance.
While Bravo declined to comment on the story, the network is reportedly considering adding a new housewife in case Kim and/or Nene leave the show for good following season 4. Perhaps Bravo might want to wait to see how things pan out on the Real Housewives of NYC this season with the departure of the show’s star Bethenny Frankel. If the latest lackluster episode of that series was any indication of what is to come, then the network’s decision to allow Bethenny to leave was a very poor one.
While a spin-off show for Nene and/or Kim might not be the worst idea, allowing one or both of them to leave the RHOA will be a disastrous idea. Even more disastrous considering the RHOA is the highest rated housewives series on Bravo.
As for Nene, she continues to get hosting gigs which included covering the royal wedding with Perez Hilton for WE-TV on Friday. Plus she is currently appearing on Celebrity Apprentice, you know, just in case you haven’t seen the previews of her highly promoted upcoming blow-up with Star Jones this Sunday.
