Some sad news to report today as E! host Giuliana Rancic revealed this morning that she has breast cancer.
The 37-year-old star of Style network’s Giuliana & Bill shared the shocking news during an appearance on The Today Show.
“I have early stage breast cancer,” revealed Giuliana, adding that she actually discovered the tumor back in August, as she was prepping for her third attempt to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization.
“Through my attempt to get pregnant through IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer,” she said. “It’s been a shock.”
A shock indeed as Giuliana wasn’t even planning to have her first mammogram until she was 40. Her IVF doctor was the one who insisted she have one now. Upon hearing the cancer results days later, Giuliana revealed she was “sobbing” and felt like “the world just crashed around me.”
Giuliana however stated the prognosis is good as the cancer was discovered early. She is set to undergo surgery this week, followed by six and a half weeks of radiation therapy.
Giuliana also shared her positive outlook on life as she revealed she is NOT giving her up dreams of having a baby. Her first IVF attempt ended in a miscarriage and the second one didn’t work.
“I still want this baby because this baby would have saved my life,” said Giuliana. “I truly feel God was looking out after me … If I had gotten pregnant later down the line, I could have been a lot sicker.”
Giuliana adds that her husband Bill Rancic, 40, has been her rock through this ordeal. “Bill is unbelievable,” she gushed. “He lets me cry when I want to cry, he doesn’t say, ‘Hey, look at that person who’s worse off than you are.’ He just lets me feel what I’m feeling.” Best wishes to Giuliana for a full recovery.
