Jennifer Lopez. Out. Steven Tyler. Out. Mariah Carey. In. I’ll be the first to say I didn’t see that one coming! American Idol has become a revolving door these days, has it not?

Us Weekly has the scoop on the potential new judges. The two front runners? Brother boy band aficionado and Broadway star Nick Jonas is reportedly one signature away from joining the AI family. Also in serious talks to join the judges’ panel is famed producer and N.E.R.D. rapper Pharrell Williams. Gracious, both would be a stellar addition to the struggling show!
As for the nineteen-year-old Jo Bro, the site reveals, “Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge. They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings.”
That works out well for the acclaimed theater buff who just wrapped a four month stint on Broadway with How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. According to the show’s producers, “[Nick] can help bring that younger demo to the show.”
As for the renowned Pharrell, who has worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, and Justin Timberlake, he’s firming up his contract. A source close to the show explains, “Everything is looking good, but they’re still working out details.”
