While we were watching Basketball Wives LA's Jackie Christie plan her seventeenth vow renewal, apparently Gloria Govan and Matt Barnes were applying for a marriage license in Las Vegas after a ceremony on Sunday. What, no hoopla? No over-the-top celebrity filled reception? I'm shocked.
Of course, perhaps the couple had enough of wedding planning the first go-round. After all, Gloria and Matt were engaged two years ago and called off the wedding right before their August nuptials. Maybe a small and spontaneous service at a Vegas chapel is exactly what these two needed.

Necole Bitchie is reporting that Matt and Gloria spent the weekend in Vegas with friends to celebrate Laura Govan's birthday. The duo were spotted at the Little Church of the West chapel which is a historical Vegas landmark. Matt's teammate DeAndre Jordan reportedly served as best man Monday, Gloria and Matt were photographed applying for their marriage license.
It's not known (yet) if the wedding was a spur of the moment thing or a plan which had been in the works for a while. The couple has had a notoriously rocky relationship, recently breaking up for close to eight months. In fact, in an interview last week, Gloria was quoted as saying, "Marriage isn’t necessarily a huge priority for me. Matt and I are working on our relationship in terms of being parents first and foremost, being friends secondly and like I said, we had so much growth, we have to get to know each other. I know it’s in the future, it’s just not tomorrow. I think when it happens, everyone will be surprised because I don’t think we will make a big deal out of it." Foreshadowing?
A new marriage isn't the only good news for Matt. He recently scored big in the courtroom too, getting out of a felony charge of resisting arrest. In July, Matt and Gloria were dining in Los Angeles. A cop who had cited Matt with two prior traffic offenses sat outside the restaurant for two hours only to arrest Matt for driving with a suspended license. When the officer attempted to handcuff the NBA player, Matt pulled his wrist away to hand the car keys to Gloria and was charged with the felony resisting arrest.
Wow, it sounds like this cop had a tiny chip on his shoulder where Matt is concerned, don't you think? Luckily for Matt, TMZ reports that the District Attorney didn't think Matt's behavior warranted such a charge, and Matt was able to plead no contest to the misdemeanor offense of interfering with the duties of a police officer. Matt also pled no contest to the lesser charge of driving while not having his license in possession after he was able to prove that he did, in fact, have a valid license. I'd say it's been a good week for ol' Matt Barnes!
