If Real Housewives of New Jersey has taught us anything about life it's that rock bottom is a deep, deep hole. Tonight Joe Giudice and Joe Gorga will get into an all out brawl over the seemingly never-ending family feud.
Melissa Gorga calls this incident the families' "rock bottom" – and let's all hope it's upwards from here! "Welcome to rock bottom. We hit it hard in this episode, and it was NOT a soft landing, believe me," she begins in her Bravo Blog.
Apparently the retreat was supposed to be relaxing and inviting, but since Teresa was there it was creepy and deranged. American Horror Story Asylum anyone? "Joe and I were skeptical about the retreat from the start. I know that everyone wanted us to walk in, put on a happy face and say that everything would be okay, but that’s just not reality." Melissa describes.
"There have been too many times when we put a band-aid on our issues with Teresa [Giudice], and we would always fall back to the same negative place. We decided if we were going to go to this retreat, we weren’t going to be fake. We didn’t want to throw a blanket on the problems that were hurting our family."

"It may have seemed harsh, but we were being real and we truly wanted to get to the bottom of the problem," Melissa continues. "That was obviously not going to be easy. When people don’t want to be honest and pretend they want to fix things you can never really move forward. There were so many ugly things being said about us and we just wanted it to stop."
Despite wanting things to change, Melissa expected the weekend to be a waste of time. "I expected Lake George to be another round of the usual," she explains. "Well, I was wrong about one thing. It wasn’t the same old, same old. It was much worse."
"We started off awkward, got angry, and then furious, and spiraled down until we were at the lowest of the low," Melissa acknowledges. "While we were in Lake George, we were as mean and petty and disrespectful as we’d ever been in the ten years we’ve known each other. They say you have to hit rock bottom before you can climb your way out. You’ll find out if 'they' are right."
But – Melissa is adamant that Lake George was wear healing finally began for the two families. "Taking our relationships out of New Jersey and putting them this alternate reality made us all go nuts," Melissa describes. "When you’re in that pit of raw, extreme emotion, you lash out."
"In the next episode, you’ll see the verbal filter most of us keep in place just dissolved," she says. "There was no holding back. No boundaries. Nothing was off limits. The cork on ten-years’ worth of anger popped. We said and did things that, under any other circumstances, wouldn’t have happened."
"I’m not proud of some of the things I said. I certainly don’t enjoy watching us at our worst," Melissa admits. "We do eventually figure out a way to climb up from rock bottom."
Melissa is not the only person reeling from the episode! Jacqueline Laurita, who opted to skip the retreat (but was there in spirit!), shared her reaction to viewing tonight's episode.
"Saw new episode. Made me cry. It's heartbreaking to see a family in that much pain over each other," Jacqueline tweeted.
Tonight is the finale of Joew vs. Joew beat-down. Who else is excited besides me?! While I wish this were a formal affair with costumes, sequins, and a referee I'll settle for Melissa and Teresa panicking and freaking out while the Joews roll around on the floor grunting at each other.
We will, of course, be live-tweeting every punch and kick and scream so hopefully Bravo will give us slow motion instant replay! All bets are on for who wins, but my money is Juicy. The man is practicing for prison for goodness sakes!
Rumble at the retreat begins at 8/7c!
