Former Real Housewives Of New Jersey Star Dina Manzo Has Started Filming Scenes For Tainted Dreams!

Hey, remember this?  I didn't either!  Former Real Housewives of New Jersey's Dina Manzo is one busy lady with her books and party planning and charity work, but now she can officially add "actress" to her resume.

The dramedy Tainted Dreams, which we reported on back in January, has finally come to fruition, with Dina filming her first scenes yesterday in New Jersey.  The show explores a different concept–it's a fictional reality show about the behind-the-scenes drama of a soap opera starring a mix of reality and soap stars.  However, everyone is playing a part.  I'm getting confused just trying to type it!

Dina will be starring as Alessandra DeGiacomo, a Manhattan CEO whose gay brother faces prejudice in his job as a production assistant on a New York-based daily soap.

Dina's dear friend and Emmy award winner Anthony Wilkinson will be playing the role of her brother.  Of the reality star, he recalls, “I met Dina when I was a production assistant at ABC’s One Life to Live, and we became fast-friends. She has been one of my strongest supporters over the years. Dina is a strong advocate for gay rights, and she served as a producer of my long-running Off-Broadway play, ‘My Big Gay Italian Wedding’ years before anyone ever dreamed marriage equality was possible. Dina is a beautiful, loyal person inside and out.”

Anthony also adds, “Dina is a long-time soap fan, and I believe Dina’s always secretly dreamed of being a ‘soap star.’ I think this role in ‘Tainted Dreams’ has come at a perfect, transitional time for Dina, and I can’t wait to see her tackle scripted drama. I know Dina will be fantastic.”

Tainted Dreams also includes cast members who have had leading roles on hit soaps like All My Children, Guiding Light, General Hospital, One Life to Live, and my personal favorite Days of Our Lives (shout out to Austin Peck who also stars in the new series!).  Speaking of, did you catch some of the cast on this week's Top Chef Masters?

While the show has yet to finalize a premiere date (or a network), a recent press release shares that post-production work on the first season of Tainted Dreams will be finished by late fall.
