Back in her early days on Real Housewives of New York she was the single girl trying to be something she wasn't: rich! Of course, Bethenny Frankel wasn't alone. That's pretty much the Real Housewives franchise's M.O. – fake it til you make it!
In the wake of Teresa Giudice's massive fraud indictment, (for whom Bethenny has said she doesn't feel sorry), she is now complaining that Bravo intentionally hires personalities that are all flash and no cash and slams the franchise as being a bunch of broke wannabes. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you…
Bethenny says the ladies of Real Houswives are "all show and no go" and are more intent of flaunting faux wealth than actually amassing that money!
She is quick to point out that while the ladies aren't exactly broke, per se, they aren't representing their real lifestyles or incomes. "It's not what you think it is," Bethenny warns.

“I think, because I’ve been around it, that Bravo likes to cast someone that lives a larger than life life and that people look at and think they’re so wealthy and want that and think it’s aspirational," Bethenny tells 95.5 PLJ Radio. Andy Cohen has often commented that the show focuses on the so-called "aspirational lifestyle", but Bethenny mocks that and maintains that most of the ladies are living way outside their means!
"It’s way more than some,” Bethenny quipped about how many are living outside their means. "If I were to track I would bet probably like 75 percent.”
Bethenny says she's confused about why one would open themselves up to speculation on reality TV when living a fake lifestyle. “I find it interesting, the people that are in trouble are driven to attracted to fame and TV like moths to a flame.”
Surprisingly – Bethenny even admits that her own wealth and Skinnygirl forture is vastly over-estimated in the media and by fans!
“Based on what I said about people being all show and no go. Everybody speculates about how much money I have and it isn’t as much as people I think," Bethenny admits. "I’m just saying whatever I have is not what everybody thinks.”
Despite Bethenny's callous comments about her former co-stars, she certainly does have a point! Several Housewives have been exposed for living fake lives; from Countess LuAnn not even owning her NYC home to Lydia McLaughlin moving for Real Housewives of Orange County.
Even more Housewives have experienced severe financial problems: Alexis Bellino (foreclosure), Jacqueline Laurita (bankruptcy & pre-foreclosure), Sonja Morgan (bankruptcy), Kenya Moore (eviction), Taylor Armstrong (grifting), NeNe Leakes, Sheree Whitfield (the list is endless…), Danielle Staub (bankruptcy and shortsale), Peggy Tanous (bankruptcy), Tamra Barney, Michaele Salahi, Alex McCord, Larsa Pippen (alleged bankruptcy), and, of course Teresa! And that's just the women whose financial issues have been discovered…
