So there are whisperings that Brooke Burke-Charvet's sudden departure from Dancing With the Stars in favor of sportscaster Erin Andrews is due to ABC's desire to draw more male viewers to the competition show. Um, is Erin planning on being naked for the duration of the upcoming season? I really don't think there is another way to get young guys to watch a ballroom dancing competition that should have tapped its way off our small screens a while ago…and I still watch religiously!
Brooke, who co-hosted with Tom Bergeron for seven seasons, is reportedly "in shock" from being fired, but she's handling it like the classy champ she is. Bad move, DWTS. Bad move…although I do love some Erin.

A show insider tells Us Weekly that Brooke was totally in the dark about getting the ax, sharing with the site that she learned of her fate "just a few hours before it was announced. She had no idea."
The source reveals that Erin's "young male following" was a huge factor in ABC's decision, explaining, "Everyone loved [Brooke], but the execs wanted a whole new show," adding of Erin's fan base, "They're desperate for those viewers."
Not surprisingly, Brooke has faced the news with decorum and a level of class lacking from the network. She tweeted after the fact, "So much chatter bout DWTS. I'm really cool everyone. I did my 7 seasons, had a blast! I'm ready for change. I love your loyalty. Thank you!"
So Dancing With the Stars wants different eye candy to attract the male contingency? That's all well and good. But what about the female fans? DWTS wants to leave us with Tom Bergeron? I'm fine just watching American's Funniest Videos, thank you very much!
