Professional Product-Pimper Bethenny Frankel has a new book – set to be released April 7, the very same day the new season of Real Housewives Of New York premieres! Bethenny’s latest literary treasure, I Suck At Relationships So You Don’t Have To is yet another self-help book about relationships, this time she’s asking us to learn from her disastrous relationship mistakes, like getting married to a man she didn’t love on TV to secure a spinoff!
I Suck… gives readers 10 helpful tips to avoid “screwing up your happily ever after.” Bethenny explains she was inspired to write the book because, while she is “very good” at business, she is obviously, “VERY bad” at love. “When it comes to my love life, I’m the first to admit that I’ve had a few bumps in the road.”

A few bumps in the road… I would call Bethenny’s relationship, marriage, and divorce from Jason Hoppy more like a giant crater created from King Kong throwing a Jupiter-sized asteroid on 5th Avenue from a’top the Empire State Building. Anyway Bethenny describes this book as her “offering of hope” because she still believes in in love and knows that “one of these days, I’m gaining to get it right.” (AKA finally meet someone who caves to my every demand!)
Bethenny’s Suck book is the latest continuation of her A Place of Yes journey. “It’s filled with a mix of candid personal stories and no-nonsense advice on how to find and sustain a meaningful connection with someone you truly love,” the twice-married, once divorced, once in the perpetual process of divorce star shares.
And, of course, like ALL THINGS Bethenny this book is a platform to spiral into yet another business venture, this time she is pitching herself as a motivational speaker to create “a place where we can all share stories and help one another.“
“You don’t have to suck at relationships, because I’ve done enough of that for all of us,” Bethenny declares. “You can come from a place of yes, and you can have any life you want. Take this journey with me.” Of course, there is also a book tour.
OK, I’ll be the first to admit I’m no Bethenny fan – I find her phony, insincere, and self-obsessed, also untruthful, however – I really want to know if you find her inspiring? If so, what is it about Bethenny’s stories or experiences that have fans continuing to seek advice from her? And seriously, how many more Skinnygirl products and books is she gonna be releasing – it’s literally non-stop. Talk about spreading yourself too thin!
Moving on Aviva Drescher also sucks and here to remind us why Aviva sucks is Bethenny. Sisters in Suckitude, y’all! Bethenny, who once considered Aviva a friend and recommended her for the show, admits she was surprised by how Aviva behaved on RHONY and how much viewers disliked her.
Bethenny derides Aviva’s decision to throw her prosthetic leg on last season’s finale as a “lack of personal creativity.“
Bethenny says wanting relevance and not having enough going in their lives makes Housewives resort to the sensational and contrived. “For me personally, I think I have enough going on in my life that I don’t need to do something ridiculous or outlandish just to make it interesting,” she continued. “People feel like they don’t know what else to do or say so they just want to do something outlandish.”
Admitting that she once “needed the show,” Bethenny says now she’s back because the show needs her! Kidding – she’s back because she wants to promote her products and reclaim her fan base by being “the old Bethenny” we all fell in love with – the one with a disastrous personal life, just looking for love and fighting against the disbelievers. “The first season was interesting because it was new, but I didn’t really love it thereafter,” she says, “and even doing my own show was so much pressure.”
“I don’t need to do the show, I want to do it,” insists Bethenny. “I’m doing the show because I miss the connection with women,” the Skinnygirl Mogul, who isn’t getting along with anyone, expects us to believe.
“I want the show to be good and successful, but the only way for that to be the case is if I’m real and honest and to be who I am,” Bethenny acknowledges to KQED Pop. “Hopefully, I can bring the humor angle. Andy Cohen once told me I was the Greek chorus. Believe me, there is no shortage of content,” she quipped.
Bethenny also shared that she and Andy have “another thing in the works together” but “I can’t talk about it.” Oh bother… Rumor has it Bethenny will be trying her hand at a nighttime talk show on Bravo.
Well, interesting stuff! I quite agree with Bethenny that hiring women who need the show creates awful television – just look at what has become of RHOA – it’s far more interesting to simply cast interesting women. But it seems Bravo (and many other networks) have found themselves in a conundrum: ‘Housewives’ has become associated with ridiculous, and therefore successful, interesting, dynamic women may not want to jeopardize their reputations by appearing. I hope this season of RHONY can bring back some of that original charisma as they certainly have, what seems to be, a really diverse cast!
