I can’t say I’m surprised to hear that Erica Mena is calling it quits on a little scripted train wreck I like to call Love & Hip Hop. The controversial star spent more time over the past few seasons starting fights, slaying the viewers with ridiculous one-liners, and trying to decide if the lady pond was the best place to swim. However, on the most recent installment, Erica wasn’t starting club brawls…if she was even featured, she was chatting with her son, giving reasonable advice (what?) to her co-stars, and gushing about her upcoming wedding to Lil’ Bow Wow.
Of course, most of the time Erica was just absent. The once wild-eyed, sharp-tongued crazed instigator took a backseat on the show where she was once the focus. If she was filmed, Erica was calm, cool, and collected. I felt like I wasn’t even watching L&HH in terms of Erica’s contribution, but thankfully Rich Dollaz brought me back to reality (the fabricated kind) every week.

Now Erica is telling her fans that her days on the VH1 hit are over, and Monday’s episode was her last. The usually defiant Mena has been replaced with a softer, less psycho version of herself, and she’s determined to make her next life changing move out of the public eye (I’ll believe it when I see it).
The L&HH staple took to her Instagram after Monday’s finale to share the news of her departure. She posted the above picture, writing, “Four years ago became #MenaMonday I let the world in and it’s been a crazy ride since. I’ve always been open about who I am & my relationships just because I know my story was meant to be told. I’ve made many mistakes and I get judgeD harshly. Thank God I’m as tough and bold as I am because the truth is many are like me,” adding, “I have fan base that now has become my family! I can’t thank you all enough for following & riding this ride. You are all appreciated. Learning from my mistakes and loving me no matter what rumors are made up.”
She even apologizes for some of her antics, hinting that all her past romantic choices weren’t necessarily the best. Erica continues, “Oh and YES I’m Sorry I know I’ve forced you all to like certain people just because I decided to date them I know it won’t be the same after tonight’s show but I do know that no matter what I’m always going to be Open and Real with you all.”
Erica concludes her post, revealing, “This chapter has ended but the real deal is the journey has just begun. Tonight is indeed my last show. Good luck to everyone. Wish you all the best. Always #MenaMondays AKA The Only Reason You All Watch #LHHNY #BreadWinner.”
I’m sure this is the last time we’ve seen Erica in the reality realm…until she’s offered her own wedding spin-off. See you soon, Mena!
