There are bad lawyers and there are good lawyers. And then there are Jason Hoppy & Bethenny Frankel’s lawyers, who at this point must be billionaires from handling the multi-year Divorce From Hell the couple is battling out in the press, among other places. Like reality TV.
According to pagesix.com, Jason’s legal team is firing back at accusations that Jason will be seeking more child/spousal support from Bethenny in the divorce settlement. He’s already receiving 10K per month, but some reports have surfaced that he wants more. Not so, say his lawyers. “The recent stories . . . are inaccurate and false, seemingly planted by misguided people who wrongly believe that they are furthering Ms. Frankel’s newly minted effort to cast herself as a victim, like when she recently called herself ‘homeless’ on national TV. Mr. Hoppy continues to work hard to protect his daughter from what appears to be her mother’s inability or unwillingness to put a clamp on uninvited media attention,” commented Jason’s attorney, Bernard Clair.

Rumors of Jason hitting the Skinnygirl mogul up for more money come from various nebulous sources. An unnamed source told Radar that initially Jason “wasn’t entitled to any spousal support, but does get $10,000 per month in child support for daughter Brynn.” The same source adds, “It makes Bethenny absolutely crazy that she has to give Jason a dime. But since he’s been unable to find a steady job since the divorce, Jason plans on going back to court to ask for more money. Not a huge increase, but New York City is very expensive!”

The “source” also added that Bethenny is still fighting for the apartment she built with Jason to get sold so they can split the payoff: “Even though Bethenny has finally moved into another apartment, she wants the Tribeca loft sold, and doesn’t want Jason to be given the apartment as part of the divorce settlement.” What’s this!? Bethenny’s not HOMELESS anymore!? Should I request my donation to her cause back? Believe what you will, but one thing’s for sure: This divorce ain’t over yet. And one can only assume Bethenny’s return to The Real Housewives of New York will likely provide more ammunition for both legal teams to duke this mess out in the court of public opinion.
