After last night’s Real Housewives of New York Crazy Island experience, Bethenny Frankel is basking in the afterglow of everyone else’s Freak Flag flying a bit higher than her own for once. In her blog, she reflects on Ramona Singer’s superhero Apologizer skills, Sonja Morgan snapping under the pressure of everyone trying to “fix” her, and how Kristen Taekman is no longer on Bethenny’s D-List.
“Well this episode was fun,” admits Bethenny. “This is pure comedy to me. Ramona aka ‘the apologizer’ is some piece of work…I really do feel her pain in her divorce. How can I comment on a life with someone spanning a quarter of a century? I cannot really judge. They say it is bad luck to wear someone else’s shoes. It is most definitely bad form to really understand unless you have walked in them, which I haven’t.”

Claiming she’s glad she got to “calm it all down with Kristen,” Bethenny defends the brick walls she has erected around her persona on RHONY this season. “I own my stuff. I am guarded and difficult to get to know. If you only knew what I was enduring personally then you might understand. But, I don’t expect anyone to worry about me. I’m a survivor and, as I said, we all have our stuff. Sometimes Ramona forgets that she isn’t the only one dealing with something,” she says.
As for the least calm member of the Turks and Caicos trip, Sonja found herself at the center of the ladies’ criticism this week, a position Bethenny empathizes with even if she was one of the so-called “friends” piling on Lady Morgan in the first place. “Sonja is all riled up, understandably so,” claims Bethenny. “She seems to feel like a caged and cornered animal. Sonja isn’t owning her stuff here, she seems to be in denial, but it really isn’t our problem anymore. Heather said it best: We don’t need to solve, and we don’t need to enable. This is above my pay grade, and I can’t seem to extricate myself from it. I definitely have compassion for Sonja.”
But the person who really can’t own ANY of her stuff is none other than the Singer Stinger! Bethenny snarks, “Ramona does love to drive the getaway car. She is totally part of the crime, but her hands are dirty. Let’s face it: She was a sh– starter this vacation, and she damn well knows it. I always say: just add Ramona.” But who can stay mad at Ramona after she laughs off a bucket of ice being dumped on her head? “Ramona redeemed herself with her ice bucket reaction. She not only possesses the gift for wearing macramé but also for cozying up to you until you’re not pissed at her anymore.”
In a not-so-subtle warning to newbie housewife Dorinda Medley, Bethenny shares her take on Dorinda’s evolving role within the group. “Dorinda had an interesting perspective here. I’m not sure what she is thinking or doing when she says we’re all a bunch of judgmental drinkers. She chose to separate herself from this conversation and be Sonja’s support system. Let’s see how this plays out.” Although Dorinda seems to be finding her voice (and a slurry one at that – next week!) on this trip, Bethenny admits she didn’t understand Dorinda’s dramatic reaction to Heather Thomson walking ahead of her to dinner. “The Dorinda and Heather stuff came from left field,” says Bethenny. “I was standing right there. We were walking in, Dorinda assumed we were ignoring her, and she just went off on Heather, which frankly scared Heather, who is a tough bitch. I don’t think she had experienced that this summer in the Berkshires, so she was thrown off guard.”
“As for my poolside lunch tiff with Ramona,” Bethenny closes, “she was on my nerves. She acts like a Cheshire cat to get everyone to do what she wants to do, so I called her on it.” So, according to Bethenny, why does Ramona act like an entitled brat everywhere she goes? Well, “She is a Scorpio. She stings, but she gets it. We always work it out.”
