If you tuned in to Below Deck this week, then like us, you witnessed a clear lack of communication among the crew. And while the crew may have been a bit taken back by Captain Lee’s choice of words for them, one thing became very clear – Leon Walker has a tougher time communicating than the rest. At least, that is how Kate Chastain saw things.
In her blog this week, Chastain dished all about the drama, and especially how things went down with Leon. Let’s just say she compared him to an animal of some sort, ha! Wait, what? Yeah, you’re not going to want to miss what Kate had to say about this week’s episode.

It was clear on Below Deck this week that Kate Chastain was not impressed with Leon Walker’s communication skills, but an animal? Yep, and a rabid one at that, ha.
“I don’t know how to explain it other than I was legitimately scared that if actually told Leon what I honestly thought about him, he would fly off the handle and do something we would both regret. If a rabid dog were to come at me, I wouldn’t go and agitate it further or say, ‘Hey buddy let’s talk our way through this.’ I’d just tiptoe away and hope that it didn’t attack me from behind. It was the same feeling with Leon. Civilized communication is a skill that some creatures simply are not capable of learning, unfortunately,” Chastain told Bravo when asked about Leon’s blow up.
BELOW DECK RECAP: TOO MANY COOKS IN THE KITCHEN
Wow, we definitely can’t blame her for feeling that way as it’s quite obvious that Leon has a temper. As for how Captain Lee handled it, Kate was not surprised. Instead, she said: “It was made loud and clear (emphasis on loud) numerous times by Leon that he was not happy with our working dynamic. I was however a little bit surprised at Captain Lee’s choice of words. I don’t think the problem between the interior and the galley was a lack of communication as much as it was a clash of communication styles. When it comes to speaking with coworkers, I get the best results when I use a proactive, calm, and reciprocal communication style and focus on the ultimate good of our charter guests (and thus the entire crew when it comes time for the tip).”
Chastain then went on to bash Walker further, claiming that his nap schedule is more important than anything else to him. “Our communication techniques just didn’t match up unfortunately but, as they say, ‘There is a lid for every pot,’ so I’m sure that someone out there is Leon’s communication match…so someone who doesn’t communicate and does exactly what they want,” Chastain concluded.
