My name is Erin and I am a former Jersey Shore fan. Okay, that’s over with. Phew!
Back when Nicole (Snooki) Polizzi was just a wee little pickle-eating, hot tub-defiling Jersey Shore cast member, we might have gazed into her future and thought: women’s prison? pole dancer? But I, for one, did not conjure up “self help guru.” Alas, that is the alternate universe we are living in, folks! (Wait – am I in Hot Tub Time Machine and just don’t know it yet?)
This week, Snooki has taken to Instagram to share the publication news of her fifth – yes, fifth – book, Strong Is the New Sexy: A Kick Ass Memoir. “My 5th book is ready for pre-sale & coming out officially October 13!!! Doing tons of book signings and can’t wait to meet you!” gushed Snooki.

Strong Is the New Sexy is described, in short, as a guide to becoming a better version of yourself. Just like Snooki. The book touts that Snooki “got her life together and now shares with her fans how she’s transformed both her body and mindset—and shows how they can do it too!”
After marrying Jionni LaValle, father of their two children, Snooki claimed to be a changed meatball woman. She even stood by Jionni in August when he was outed as (allegedly) having an email linked to the infamous Ashley Madison website. Snooki showcased her mad #writingskillz in an Instagram post supporting her husband: “Jionni is the the most humble, respectful, and most loyal souls I know. I mean hello, that’s why I married him. He’s a stand up guy who loves his family more than anything in this world.”
Snooki also called out the allegations of Jionni having an Ashley Madison account as false, claiming, “no, my husband didn’t sign up on that website to cheat on me. Honestly, if he wanted to cheat- he would go out and do it. Not sign up on a website and pay for it.”
Capitalizing on her Jersey Shore days and her reality show spin-offs, Snooki has grown her small slice of TV fame into quite a little empire, including book sales, clothing, accessories, perfume, and more. To the haters out there Snooki once quipped, “What I did 6 years ago at 21 doesn’t define who I am today, nor will I take shit from a stranger who doesn’t know who I am. Rise above the hate, the judgmental people, and live the best, healthy positive life that you can.” Good for her! She’s a trip, yes…but a kind of a fun trip. (Do I need an intervention!?)
Because she’s still the same gal we once knew a little too well all these years later, she promotes her book in signature Snooki style: “Get excited for my kickass memoir on how I became a better version of myself- but still the same asshole,” she writes.
