Whoa! All is certainly not fair in love and war, especially if you’re the biggest star of this season’s Real Housewives of Orange County. And I’m not talking about the actual housewives. Brooks Ayers, who’s cancer storyline stole everyone’s thunder – and annoyed viewers to no end – this year, is stirring the pot a little more with his recent trash talk about ex-girlfriend, Vicki Gunvalson.
While Vicki cryptically told Andy Cohen on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live that “it was a lot of things” contributing to their breakup, Brooks says that he and Vicki sought counseling way back in March to intervene in their rocky relationship. “I said, ‘Listen, we need some third-party help. I’m not gonna be influenced by you,'” Brooks divulged to E! News.

Brooks says he and Vicki began seeing “of all things, a reality TV couples counselor.” (Niche market by Bravo?) Brooks tells E!, “We made the decision that we probably weren’t going to be for forever, and when I made that statement mid-July in the counseling session, it was like…the piano was lifted off my back.” Ouch!
For her part, Vicki cited long-time tension between daughter Briana Culberson, the stress of being on reality TV, and Brooks alleged illness as contributing factors to their breakup. She told Andy on WWHL, “Long term we were not going to work. Short term it was amazing.”
While Vicki takes the high road (words that have possibly never been used to describe her behavior before!), Brooks is apparently going for the jugular in his commentary on their relationship. And Briana is not off limits either. Brooks goes as far as claiming, “I think that Briana had some significant issues as a child growing up, some quote unquote ‘daddy issues,’ and that’s become quite evident through a lot of things that transpired.”
As the E! interview came to the forefront, reports were also swirling that Brooks taped a “secret interview” with Andy Cohen. An insider told Radar Online early this month, “Vicki was completely blindsided by Brooks’ decision to do the interview with Andy. Complicating matters, Brooks isn’t telling Vicki anything about the interview. She has no idea what was said, or if he threw her under the bus.” One would assume that clips of Andy’s interview will be broadcast during segments of the RHOC reunion.
Now the question is: will Brooks spill even more dirt in his E! interview airing tonight at 7pm (and 11pm) ET? Given what’s already been leaked, I’d say the answer is a resounding YES.
