I cannot be the only one who feels like the instant friendship between Vicki Gunvalson and Kelly Dodd is less than genuine. Maybe they ended up being really good friends, but it’s pretty obvious that their immediate kinship came from a place of attention-seeking desperation.
We are only two episodes into Season 11 of Real Housewives of Orange County and it’s very clear the the rest of the cast can’t stand Vicki for all of the Brooks Ayers-related bullshit that she put them through last year. Vicki needs friends and Kelly needs to get some camera time if she wants to stick around on the show so it makes total sense for these two to link up. That’s not how Vicki sees it though, or at least that’s not the justification she has for this new relationship.

Vicki addressed her suspect friendship with Kelly in her latest Bravo blog entry. The OG of the OC wrote, “Well as you can see from this episode, Kelly and I really started our new friendship off nicely and organically. We had a mutual friend so we had that in common when we first met which made it easy. ” If you guys really met because of a mutual friend, why didn’t you meet before Kelly was getting paid to be on the same reality show? So saying they met organically when we saw them (supposedly) talk for the first time at Heather Dubrow‘s yacht party during the first episode is the first thing I take issue with in this blog post.
Vicki also gave Kelly a shout out for sticking by her for a story line sticking up for her at Meghan Edmonds‘s house for that kitchen demolition party. Vicki wrote: “It was nice to see Kelly tell the ladies at Meghan’s house how sad I was and that I felt left out by them. I am hopeful that they will understand how hurtful and damaging this whole situation has been for me from last year and I really want to move on.” Don’t get me wrong, I feel bad for anyone who is this lonely, but Vicki did a lot of this to herself and she refuses to take responsibility for her own actions. It’s pretty hard to have sympathy for her.

Vicki wrote, “Kelly didn’t know anything about my previous relationship, so when I told her about what I went through with not only the ladies but with “him,” she had compassion for me. I mean who in their lifetime hasn’t been betrayed by someone? All of us have.”
Brooks’ cancer scam was one of last year’s biggest news stories in general, not just for this show or for reality TV. With that said, there is no chance in hell that Kelly is hearing this story about Brooks and Vicki‘s relationship for the first time at that lunch during the second episode of Season 11. Plus, Meghan gave Kelly the inside scoop on the clique, so Kelly trying to feign ignorance is pretty ridiculous.
Vicki continued to play the victim card when she wrote, “I think it was wrong and childish for any of the ladies to try and influence Kelly not to be friends with me. I mean what, are we five years old on the playground? I can’t help to think how any of them would feel if that was done to them. Kelly is a big girl and she can be friends with whomever she wants to.” Yes, Kelly can be friends with whoever she wants, but the ladies are just sticking up for themselves after YOU decided to paint them as a clique of mean girls in that lunch with Meghan. They were only trying to explain their feelings to the new girl.
