Shep Rose Dishes On The Southern Charm Reunion: “I’m Definitely Not A Choir Boy, That’s For Sure!”

Say what you will about Southern Charm’s Shepard “Shep” Rose (as if you need my permission to do that!), but his gregarious nature is often a much needed reprieve from his cast mate’s incessant drama. Shep is always quick to call things like he sees them with his self-deprecating humor and a twinkle in his eye. Even the most boorish and insensitive comments from the fratastic playboy with mailbox money come across with a boyish sort of, well, charm.

Even on the two-part reunion, Shep’s affable personality garnered laughs from his co-stars. He continued to champion for including Kathryn Dennis while honestly calling her out for terrifying Whitney Sudler-Smith on Scary Jeckyl Island. During the first installment, he also shared some of his own antics that lead to mixed reactions from fans. Now Shep is offering his opinion on everything from Patricia Altshul’s decision not to attend the reunion and nature’s bounty–mushrooms

In a recent interview with Bravo’s Daily Dish, Shep shares his two cents on Patricia’s absence, telling the site, “Well look, you know there’s no love lost between Patricia and Kathryn, are we agreed on that? OK, so you know, I don’t understand why it’s so gotten to the point where it is. You know what I said to somebody, watching a reunion is like watching a political debate — if you like a candidate, you’re going to see exactly what you want to see and you’re going to think that they did fine. And that the other person, you didn’t like is an asshole. So that’s how I see it.”

As for Ms. Pat’s opinion on the two-parter, Shep continues, “So Patricia thought that Kathryn seems agitated and a lot of people on Twitter did, but you know that’s fine. I just can’t tell anymore. I think Patricia was happy with it. She’s most happy not to be involved. She’s a little too dignified to get in the mix with us all. She loves the show.”

The bar owner also had some explaining to do about “that story” where a prison admin scolded him for his treatment of Craig Conover. Of course, it was the events leading up to that admission that caused a Twitter storm. “Andy kind of started with me, he kind of goes around the room and he started with me, which I’m happy to talk to anyone about myself. It’s my favorite subject,” the reality star jokes.

Shep recalls, “Of course, the mushrooms story, I was so nervous about that. I prefaced my mom and dad was like look, of course they’re like hand in their hands I’m sure, but I was like, ‘I’ve got to be honest.’ I don’t think anyone’s gotten anywhere by being too cautious or anything. I was like, ‘It’s a really funny story.’ I was like mushrooms grow in the earth; it’s natural,” adding, “And then I thought to myself Seth Rogen and those guys openly talk about smoking weed all day, everyday and no one seems to care about that — not that I’m in their league or anything, but I thought screw it [and] tell a funny story. The Twitter reaction was so fun. I’m definitely not a choir boy, that’s for sure. I don’t think that anybody thought that in the first place.”

When asked if he’s over discussing his love life, Shep responds,”I don’t know, I mean I’m used to it by now. I’m almost getting to the point where I don’t have any new things to say, but I’m happy to talk about anything. I mean I’d love to meet someone. Part of the reason I’m out, a lot of the reasons I’m out and having fun all the time is in hopes of meeting someone, but I’m willing to roll with all the punches.”

Roll with the punches, and roll in the hay, right Shep? Adorbs.
