Everyone who watches Dance Moms knows that it is not very easy for Abby Lee Miller to apologize or own up to responsibility. That’s why I am so interested to see how she handles all of her legal drama when she reports to sentencing on October 11. Abby is being charged with bankruptcy fraud and failure to report income.
Luckily for Abby, she has had cash cow star dancer Maddie Ziegler to detract from the negative press and make some money. “Discovering” Maddie and putting her in the spotlight was the best thing Abby did for her career. Now it seems like Abby’s livelihood is going down with this legal scandal and Maddie’s success just keeps on soaring.

What did Abby have to say about her current legal situation? As expected, she did not fully take responsibility and she chose to push her troubles onto others – mainly the dance mothers. Classic.
In an interview with The Insider With Yahoo, Abby said, “You make mistakes, you move on. And my biggest mistake is trusting people and worrying about their kids’ dancing instead of worrying about my business first. So, that’s what it is. Live and learn.” Right. It is your dancers’ mothers’ fault that you chose to be shady about your income. That makes complete sense.
Aside from that, it is awkward to see that Maddie clearly doesn’t need Abby to be successful anymore. She is killing it on her own and she’s trying to be more than just a dancer and reality TV star. She actually has two book projects in the works. The 13-year-old Dance Moms alum will write a memoir about her life called The Maddie Diaries in May 2017.
Maddie will also write a trio of books about something that she knows a lot about: competitive dance. Maddie is just the cutest. Maddie told People, “I’ve always been the type of person who really enjoys writing stories. When I found out I would be writing books, I was so excited that I got started right away!”
The student has really become the master in this relationship. I am so curious to know how Abby feels now that Maddie has so much success unrelated to her or the Lifetime reality show that made them both famous.
TELL US – DO YOU THINK THAT MADDIE’S BOOKS WILL DO WELL OR SHOULD SHE JUST STICK TO DANCE?
