At this point, Tamra Judge seems like a different person after her newfound Christianity. Instead of being the instigator, she is really trying when it comes to this peacemaker role – minus hating on eternal frienemy Vicki Gunvalson whenever possible, but that’s basically a rite of passage on Real Housewives of Orange County.
Still, she was calm, cool, and collected during that instantly infamous dinner at The Quiet Woman when Shannon Beador threw a plate (full of food, mind you), and she was even polite and cordial toward Kelly Dodd (who she cannot stand).
Tamra reflected on the plate throwing drama in her Bravo blog. She even admitted, “Watching this episode is the first time ever I wish I would have opened my mouth instead of staying quiet.” But of course she said (yet again), “We didn’t want to hear Lydia [McLaughlin] talking about Vicki.” That’s how this show works. Everyone is either talking about Vicki or waiting for an excuse to bring her up – Tamra should know this by now.
Still, she insisted, “Of course Shannon’s going to get upset, who wouldn’t?”
Tamra also said, “Let’s face it, they just met! I just wanted them to get along and was trying to remain neutral, but now I’m not sure if that was the right thing to do.” That’s debatable, but Shannon throwing that plate was the most iconic Real Housewives restaurant scene since Teresa Giudice flipped a table. So it was all worth it in the end, at least to me… and some other fans… hopefully.
Even though all of the Housewives get off shit talking about Vicki, Vicki wasn’t angelic during the last episode. She decided to group Tamra in with her ex Brooks Ayers, who lied about cancer, and a former employee who embezzled from there. I can tell she was trying her best to be entertaining and shady, but it just didn’t add up at all.
Obviously Tamra wasn’t here for that shit either. She wrote, “Vicki claims she’s a ‘bad judge of character.’ She’s merging her company and needs help staffing because she so often gets taken advantage of…really? She then goes on to put me in the same category as Brooks, as people who have done her wrong. Are you kidding me? What have I ever done to Vicki? Other than call her out for her disgusting lies, I was a good friend – I warned her about Brooks and she wouldn’t listen. I tried to protect her from getting hurt. Is it too much for her to admit that I was right? I was nothing but a good friend. I’m happy to say I DON’T have a bad judge of character OR a delusional relationship with the TRUTH!”
Then Tamra said what I was thinking while watching the episode: “Am I the only one that is totally confused about Lydia [McLaughlin] inviting Kelly to dinner? Who invites someone’s enemy to sit down for dinner? No one ever! It’s not like Lydia didn’t know, she told Peggy that, ‘Tamra and Shannon don’t get along with Kelly.’ Then, she called Kelly to see if she’s going to make it to dinner from Peggy’s car…why?”
BECAUSE LYDIA IS A SHIT STIRRER. No matter how much glitter her mom throws or how many prayers she recites, Lydia is still a shit stirrer. For the most part, it is annoying, but like I said, Shannon throwing that plate was iconic, so I’m grateful for that one precious moment.
Tamra to spill the truth: “The look on Lydia’s face when I said, ‘Kelly Dodd just walked in’ was priceless. At the time I thought it was weird that she jumped up and ran after Kelly. Didn’t they just meet like 24 hours ago? Lydia never once told us she’s the one that invited Kelly, and then Kelly told Shannon she had NO idea we were there. Seriously, what is going on? Seems like a set up to me.”
One hundred percent. Sure, Lydia might be genuinely surprised that Kelly came through after initially rejecting the invite, but she shouldn’t be “shocked” since she is the one who asked her to come through. You tell her, Tamra.
Tamra insisted,”I know Shannon well enough that she was nervous when Kelly walked in. She didn’t know what to say so she started talking about her weight. Ugh, I wish she wouldn’t have done that. Kelly plays dirty. She will – and did – absolutely use it against her. It was nice of Lydia to pray over Shannon.”
Shannon also shouldn’t have been super combative toward Kelly when she innocently walked into the women’s bathroom. Nevertheless, Kelly’s moment of innocence walking into the restroom was short-lived. After that, the gloves were off and the insults were beyond brutal.
Tamra recalled, “Kelly comes and sits down next to me and started bringing up old issues. I thought it would be best to change the subject and just kill her with kindness. I had no desire to argue with Kelly or let her get under my skin, I wish Shannon felt the same way that night. What happened next was epic and embarrassing! Insults, screaming, steaks and fingers flying, and we were running for the door. Just another dinner in the OC…LOL!” Just another run of the mill dinner… Very casual.
Once again, Tamra read my mind when she wrote, “Lydia talking to Peggy outside left me feeling annoyed…she’s the one that invited Kelly, who she just met one day prior and KNEW we didn’t like her. She was responsible. Lydia, Lydia, Lydia! What were you thinking?!”
Exactly. Lydia is the one who invited Kelly. She’s been on this show. How could she be that upset/embarrassed? Lydia knows what she signed up for. Please, girl. Save the crocodile tears.
