It feels like this Real Housewives of Atlanta season truly got started as soon as Kim Zolciak showed up and started arguing with Kenya Moore. Before that, basically nothing happened other than the ladies gossiping about Kenya’s secretive marriage to Marc Daly.
Kim questioned Kenya’s marriage and Kenya came back at her and questioned Kim’s tweet to Chrissy Teigen asking who her daughter Brielle Biermann had to blow to get some John Legend tickets. To say things got out of hand is not enough. These two took their insults to another level. Remind me again about why they actually hate each other. I don’t blame Kim for checking Kenya after she wandered off into the unfinished basement at Chateau Sheree without permission, but this feud just seems so random.
While Kenya was on Watch What Happens Live, Andy polled the viewers to ask if NeNe Leakes was jealous of Kenya and Cynthia Bailey’s friendship. Kenya said, “I don’t know if it’s jealousy. I think NeNe is the type of girl who wants all of her friends to be her friends and she doesn’t want to share, but she can’t have Cynthia all to herself.” For the record, 72% of people polled felt like NeNe was actually jealous.
While Kenya was arguing with Kim she told her, “Why do you have such a hard-on for me? Didn’t they cut it off during your reassignment surgery?” This obviously offended a lot of people. The comment was deemed to be “transphobic.”
Kenya explained, “I think initially I was just going after Kim. I was just throwing the kitchen sink at her. I was just incensed by her remarks toward me and her hatred. I was trying to offend Kim, but definitely didn’t mean to offend anybody else. I could see why someone would be offended by that. Absolutely.” Andy Cohen asked if she regretted saying it and Kenya admitted, “Oh yeah. I never want to offend anybody.”
Kenya wasn’t the only one who has made questionable comments. Kim tweeted Chrissy Teigen, “sooo ur hubby is comin to ATL may 19 & Kash is beyond OBSESSED w him! who does Brielle have to blow in order to meet him?? LOL.” Of course Kenya brought that up in the middle off their argument and accused Kim of “pimping out her daughter.”
Andy read a tweet from Brielle that said “since we’re still talking about me being ‘pimped out’ by my mother for john legends tix- i wrote the tweet and pressed send! we both thought it was funny. it’s a JOKE IM ALMOST 21! classless my ass y’all have no sense of humor.” Kenya said, “Listen, I think if you think that’s a joke, something needs to be said about the way your brain functions.”
Kenya continued, “She said it. She said out to the world ‘Who does Brielle have to blow for John Legend tickets?'” Andy tried to mediate and said, “She was kidding, right?” Kenya responded with, “Who kids about that though? Who kids about pimping their daughter out for concert tickets. That’s not funny. She got a lot of heat for that initially. Clearly America didn’t think it was funny.”
Kenya did have one (sort of) nice thing to say about Kim. When she was asked who she would rather Kim or Phaedra Parks as a cast member, Kenya said, “Oh God. That is a bombshell of a question.” And after some hesitation she said, “I’ll just say Kim.” That’s not exactly a compliment, but at least she didn’t throw around any shade or insults.
Switching topics, Andy asked Kenya, “Are you pregnant? Are you having IVF treatments?” Kenya coyly answered, “We will talk about that when I can talk about that.” So that is probably a hint to keep tabs on Kenya’s social media in case she has something to announce in the near future.
Andy brought up Kenya’s ex Matt Jordan and asked if he still contacts her. Kenya channeled her inner Mariah Carey when she said, “I don’t know who you’re talking about.” Thanks to the constant discussions about Kenya’s marriage, I pretty much forgot about Matt, so that question felt so random.
Speaking of Kenya’s man Marc, one caller asked, “Why are you being so shady about your husband? What do you have to hide?” Kenya said, “I have nothing to hide. My husband is a former investment banker. He’s an MBA. He’s an amazing husband and we’re out all the time. I have nothing to hide.” Andy added, “The fact is he doesn’t want to participate in the show.” And then Kenya shared, “I think initially he was concerned and there were a lot of things we had to work out between us. We are in a different place right now.” She also mentioned that her dad “really likes him.”
