After a somewhat boring Season 13 premiere episode of Real Housewives of Orange County, we can all thank Vicki Gunvalson for providing us with some drama during the second episode. Almost every plot line came back to Vicki. That’s what makes her the “OG of the OC.”
She interrupted Tamra Judge’s lunch with Eddie Judge to beg Eddie for forgiveness after spreading rumors about his sexuality. Kelly Dodd flipped out when she found out that Vicki and her man Steve Lodge have been double dating with her (very recent) ex-husband Michael Dodd without telling her. And then at the end of the episode, Shannon Beador invited Vicki to turn up in Mexico for old time’s sake.
Given everything that went down, it makes sense that Vicki had a lot to say about the episode in her Bravo blog post.
Of course, Vicki has no idea why Kelly was so upset about her secretly double dating with her ex. The issue is not about Michael dating. It’s about Vicki keeping it a secret.
Vicki insisted, “I was really shocked that Kelly was so upset about Michael dating and that she would have been upset that we went out with them a few times.” Vicki just doesn’t get it.
Vicki Gunvalson doesn’t adhere to girl code
Nevertheless, she continued to make excuses for her shady behavior. She wrote, “Kelly made it very clear she wanted to divorce her husband Michael. She was dating immediately following the divorce and was actually very excited, describing herself as free and so happy that she was single. She is so quick to use her ‘happy to be divorced’ clichés. Kelly even said (as you witnessed), how she wished Michael would start dating.” If Kelly was so open about wanting Michael to date, then why wasn’t Vicki just as open about the fact that he was dating…. that it was a woman Vicki is friends with…and that they all hung out together several times.
Vicki continued to justify the secret double dating: “Keep in mind Steve and Michael are still close friends and see each other often. It would be logical Steve and I would see who he was dating and even spend time with them, so I am awe struck at the outrage Kelly has demonstrated towards me.”
Vicki theorized, “Is it really outrage, or is she concealing some underlying unresolved feelings she still has for Michael? I don’t know, and I’m not going to make that judgment.” Oh, Vicki. If she’s “not going to make that judgment,” then why did she include that remark in her blog post. Oh, right. It’s because she actually WAS “making that judgement.”
Kelly Dodd slams Vicki and Steve
She claimed, “The person Michael dated for a short time is a friend of mine. Both her and Michael asked me to keep their relationship confidential. They told me that they wanted to share that information with Kelly when they thought the time was right.” That’s understandable, but clearly other people were in the know since Kelly found out from a friend. Wouldn’t Vicki just prefer to tell Kelly herself? Apparently not.
Vicki played the victim role for the 9584735th time since: “I think this is honestly the first time I have been yelled at for staying out of people’s business.”
Vicki also took a dig at Kelly’s parenting: “It did sadden me to see Kelly involving her 11-year-old daughter in this adult issue, especially one that involved Michael. I think that was a mistake on her part.”
She concluded, “I hope we can move on from this unusually odd issue, because I consider Kelly a good friend of mine.” If she’s such a good friend, then why didn’t Vicki just tell her what was going on. Oh, right: for a story line.
Onto the next drama: Vicki vs. Eddie. She wrote, “I understand Eddie’s anger towards me. To have caused any stress in his and Tamra’s relationship is regrettable, and for that I am truly sorry. My apology to Eddie was sincere and heartfelt.” She even threw in some Bible verses….
She continues, “Spreading rumors is never a good practice, and speaking without facts just makes matters worse. I believe the thing that made me so nervous that day meeting with Eddie and Tamra was the fact that not only did I want to repair my relationship with Eddie, but this would also play a major role in healing my relationship with Tamra.”
Then Vicki threw in a random remark about new Housewife Emily Simpson, which seemed a little shady: “I don’t know Emily very much yet, but it was nice seeing her and Shane out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary. Emily mentioned in the first episode that Shane is an attorney, and then tonight she said he is a claims adjuster. Did anyone else catch that?” No. No one else caught that, but the fact that Vicki did and chose to point this out could be a subtle indication that these two are far from being best friends
Vicki ended with “Lastly, it was so great seeing Shannon pack for Punta Minta and inviting Tamra and me to Mexico. Stay tuned for next week to see how much fun we had.” YES. Now this is what I want to see: the iconic trio wasted in Mexico just like old times.
TELL US- WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON: VICKI GUNVALSON’S OR KELLY DODD’S? WAS VICKI’S APOLOGY TO EDDIE SINCERE?
