This episode of Married at First Sight: Honeymoon Island is called ‘Breakdown to Breakthrough” and several couples have some important breakthroughs, but are other couples doomed?
But first, it’s Day 5 and we’re still anxiously waiting to see if the indecisive playboy Chris Perry wants to try with Jocelyn, who came back to try and get again with him. After Chris explains that he wasn’t sure their connection was genuine, Jocelyn tells Chris that she feels he’s a player. Chris tells her that he mentioned her daughter and Jocelyn didn’t talk about her at all, whereas Jada did. Jocelyn leaves! Chris tells Jada Rashawn everything he said to Jocelyn and that he’s 100 percent confident with his decision to stay with Jada. No more Jocelyn talk!
Eric Acosta and Katie Muller post a video that they are having a blast, but I feel and see absolutely no chemistry with these two — anyone else? They seem like they are friends enjoying a vacation together. Even though they want to take it slow, they’ll be going backwards soon if they keep going this slow.
It’s time to “understand each other’s psychology” according to the psychologists. Kimber Gardner talks about how she didn’t realize that someone like Shannon Raddler existed and she’s excited to have found him.
At the waterfall, Tyler Moody and Isabella McKenzie admit they haven’t had their first kiss yet! What are they waiting for?! They are the most magnetic couple there and they can’t keep their hands off each other. This surprises me. Not even a kiss before bed? Hmmmm….. Katie suggests that the group leave them in front of the waterfall because it’s a magical moment, but Isabella says they’ll know when the time is right. Again, so slow! But they decide to stay behind at the waterfall for a few minutes. Could it happen now?
Jona Bienko and Brandin Brosh talk about how they are connecting with each other. Am I missing something? Is this just crappy editing where I see nothing here? Jona calls Brandin a tough woman — in a good way — and he’s attracted to that. Jona tells Brandin how he’s very affectionate, while Brandin is a complete opposite and doesn’t like PDA. Brandin says she doesn’t’ like to be touched when they go to bed — JONA, THIS IS A RED FLAG! YOU’RE A TOUCHY-FEELY GUY, RUN LIKE HELL DUDE!
Eric and Katie share hobbies, but it’s time to push through to something deeper. They both explain how they love physical touch, yet they haven’t held hands. Eric talks about how he needs a few drinks to be good at physical touch — um, okay?
Kimber talks about how her parents show affection by talking about how they care about her and that’s a gift to her, whereas Shannon explains he doesn’t get told that and he’s not good at telling others. He says he would have to get better at that with Kimber.
Back to Isabella and Tyler, they exchange compliments about how they care about each other — oh, forget it — they still don’t kiss even though Isabella said it was the perfect moment!
Jada talks about falling in love with Chris and Chris says that he looks at Jada and tries to see if she’s a fit for his daughter. It’s nice that he wants a mom for his daughter, but is he putting that above his feelings for Jada? Time will tell.
Brandin talks to Dr. Griffin about the process being too intense. Jona had told Brandin that he still kisses his daddy on his lips and that seems to make Brandin uncomfortable because it shows how close Jona is with his family and she’s not like this. The more Dr. Griffin pushes Brandin to talk about why she’s not physically open and why, a successful businessperson who takes risks all the time, she doesn’t take risks with her heart, Brandin breaks down crying and says she hates all of these intense conversations.
Dr. Griffin talks to her privately and she finally opens up and discovers that maybe the reason why she’s so closed off is that her ex — when she was in her early 20s — cheated on her in her own bed.
The guys decide to get together and hang out. Tyler talks about how the vibe with Isabella is so strong. Chris tells Tyler to relish the fact that they haven’t kissed yet because it’s so better when you wait. Jona talks about the fact he doesn’t want to have to think about whether or not he should hold her hand and that he and Brandin aren’t on the same page.
Tyler and Isabella go on the water and hang out today. Tyler talks about how he’s a country bumpkin who grew his own food, took care of animals and shot bb guns. He gets emotional talking about home. Isabella grew up in the suburbs as the youngest daughter and was sheltered and protected. She’s never broken a bone, unlike Tyler. Isabella likes politics and sees that they aren’t on the same page, but Tyler says he’s not really educated about politics but he’s open to learning. Tyler keeps wanting to kiss her and they finally kiss while on the boogie boards.
While the couples talk, all of a sudden Brandin jumps up screaming and runs toward someone she sees. Her mom is here! Dr. Griffin wants Brandin to talk to her mom about her past relationship which might be keeping her from falling in love with Jona. Brandin is hesitant to introduce her mother to Jona! JONA — RED FLAG #465,789.
Brandin breaks down talking about how much she loves her mom. Okay, this isn’t helping that her mom is telling her that if she’s not ready to be open and affectionate, don’t be. Sorry, Jona! Brandin and Jona are talking to Brandin’s mom and she learns about the fact that his mom passed and that’s probably why he’s close to his dad. That helps her get closer to him and want to move forward. She says she’s going to try and let her guard down. Brandin’s mom can see Jona as a son-in-law. I don’t expect a quick turnaround from her at all.
