It has been a tough year for Real Housewives of New York’s Bethenny Frankel. Her on/off boyfriend Dennis Shields died unexpectedly on August 10. Her beloved dog Cookie passed away in October. In the face of her momentous grief, Bethenny threw her energy into relief efforts for hurricane relief.
During the epic RHONY cast trip to Colombia, Bethenny mentioned that she has a fish allergy as they sat down to lunch. She even joked about her cast mates “wanting to poison her.” However, they had more than enough drama and trauma on that vacation. This trip that Tinsley Mortimer organized was full of all sorts of drama. First, the boat almost sank, there were tears and arguments galore, and all the Housewives contracted explosive diarrhea. I don’t think that Tinsley Mortimer will ever be allowed to plan any future Housewives trips. Ever. Again.
But Bethenny faced a terrifying medical emergency when she had a severe allergic reaction after consuming fish. According to People, Bethenny ate some soup on Sunday that caused her throat to become itchy before she became unconscious. Bethenny tweeted that “I couldn’t talk, see, thought I had a stroke & dying & told if 5 mins later I’d be dead. 911 & EPI saved me. I’ll never not carry an #epipen.”

Bethenny later tweeted about her new boyfriend, “He saved my life.” The Bravo star spent two days in the ICU, and later tweeted her gratitude to Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts by tagging them and writing “xo.” A source confirmed to People that Bethenny went into anaphylactic shock and that she “almost died.”
So who is the guy that saved Bethenny’s life? In September, several sources told People that Bethenny was dating film producer and real estate developer Paul Bernon. Bethenny’s new man lives in the greater Boston area, which is where Frankel had her life-threatening experience. I am glad that Bethenny is feeling better, and I hope that in the future she passes on the soup. (I know that I would!)
