It’s that time again for one of my favorite shows, Married at First Sight. If you are a true reality fan, who wouldn’t love watching a controversial experiment, where couples agree to get legally married to a stranger the moment they meet. Sign me up, I do!!!! The couples are matched and counseled throughout the eight-week experiment by experts, sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz, psychologist Dr. Jessica Griffin and marriage counselor and leader of a church Pastor Calvin Roberson.
I have watched this show for years and it is always interesting to see the journey from meeting to living with a stranger within a short period of time. It’s like going on a never-ending first date. The new season will premiere on January 1st and will feature these four new Philadelphia based couples. Which couples will fall madly in love? Who will be running straight to the courthouse to file for a divorce after? Will they each be attracted to their spouse? So many questions…. and only eight weeks for them to figure it out!
Katie & Luke
Luke Cuccurullo is 30 years old and comes from a divorced home and has a broken relationship with his father. He is an engineer and an adventure seeker by nature. Katie Sisk, 27, was raised with her brothers and parents in the home, but they have recently divorced. She has become pessimistic about love due to the divorce, but hopes to find a real relationship. It will be interesting to see if they are ready for love or will they allow their pasts to interfere with this journey.
Kristine & Keith
Kristine Killingsworth, 28, has had a great childhood with her parents who have been married for more than thirty-five years. She is a real estate agent that absolutely loves her job. Keith Dewar, 29, was mostly raised by his grandmother, his parents were never together. He feels his parent’s relationship didn’t have a direct impact on how he views relationships, but he feels it taught him not to play games. He is a patient care technician, specializing in kidney dialysis.
Stephanie & AJ
Stephanie Sersen hopes to find a man who will treat her the way her father treats her mom. Her parents have been married for 30 years and she is hoping to find the same stability in a relationship. Stephanie, 35, is ready to get married and settle down. Traveling is one of her passions in life. AJ Vollmoeller, 37, is an only child and his parents have been married for 45 years. He has been inspired by the way his parents have worked through difficult times and stayed together. He is the President and CEO of a staffing and recruiting company. AJ is a foodie and adrenaline junkie and hopes to find a wife with a sense of adventure as well.
Jasmine & Will
Jasmine McGriff, 29, comes from a close-knit family with traditional gender roles. She is self-sufficient and independent and owns her own home and has a career. She is ready to find the special person to share her life. Will Guess, 37, was raised by his mother and feels blessed to not only have a great father but a step-father as well. Family is important to him and he is ready to get married. He is the only single guy among his friends and feels it gives him great insight in what to expect in a marriage.
I can just sense the fear and hope pouring from these couples. I can’t wait to see what each person thinks about their match. Tune in to the two-hour Season 8 premiere on Lifetime on January 1 at 8 pm EST.
