There must be something in the water over at Bravo headquarters. Andy Cohen just had a baby. Porsha Williams from the Real Housewives of Atlanta and Mercedes “MJ” Javid from Shahs of Sunset are about to have their babies soon. And now Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby announced she is going to have a baby this year!
Fans of the show know that Ashley and her husband Michael Darby had quite the tumultuous relationship over the past few seasons. The couple had separated for several months, and even fought over wanting to have kids. Then it was revealed during the season three reunion that Ashley had a miscarriage. All is well now with the happy couple. Ashley shared the exciting details of their expanding family over social media.
Ashley made the announcement over Instagram and showed off her baby bump in a video. She wrote, “Very excited to share this special news with you my loves. Micheal and I are thrilled to welcome a bundle of joy into our lives. The most incredible gift imaginable! Love and light to you.” Aw!
In an interview with People, Ashley gave more insight to the good news. She said, “When I used to hear people talk about having a child and the miracle of life inside you, I know that sounds great, but then to actually experience it? It’s the most all-encompassing feeling ever. I never imagined I’d feel this much love … it’s the pinnacle!”
Ashley was completely shocked when she found out she was pregnant because she and Michael weren’t trying to have a baby. She stated, “It was a surprise… I thought I was getting sick because of the change of season.” Ashley continued, “Something just told me to take the test, really not expecting a positive result. And then lo and behold, there were two solid lines.”

When Ashley had miscarried it really put a toll on her relationship with Michael. She said, “It was such a traumatic experience…I didn’t fully understand the magnitude of how it would affect us as a couple and as individuals because we kind of thought it would be a given that we would just be able to have children.”
I’m sure this is why Ashley then admitted that she and Micheal turned on the waterworks when they found out the news. She said, “I’m not the most emotional person, but I shed some tears…and then Michael started crying.” Hopefully, things stay on the up for Ashley and Micheal, and this baby brings them even closer together.
