Tom Schwartz, can this guy ever get a break? For years, the Vanderpump Rules star has been cowering in the shadow of wife, Katie Maloney. Viewers have seen Tom fail at bartending, have a less-than-stellar performance attempting to work for LVP Sangria, and be brutally insulted on a regular basis by the person he married. When Tom 2 finally gets a job, as a kind-of owner of Tom Tom, along with life-partner Tom Sandoval, Katie complains about that too. Of course, this begs the question, if Katie isn’t complaining, does she have a pulse?
Living this way each day, experiencing the highs and lows of Katie’s mood swings opening a bar, a guy could use some rest and relaxation. Why not a trip to Mexico?! The sun, the sand, good people, and more alcohol than I could consume in a year are on the short list of fun things to do. But wait, Tom 2 and co-star Scheana Marie were randomly upgraded to first class when the gang was boarding the aircraft. Because Katie is so sweet and understanding, she smiled gently at her beloved husband and wished him a good flight… That’s almost as farfetched as Lala Kent being a feminist reconciling with James Kennedy. So how did Katie handle this horrific act of betrayal? Not well, my friends, not well.
Tom 2 discussed the incident on the Vanderpump Rules After Show. “What a disaster!”, the exasperated husband exclaims. “I thought we would have a laugh and she would needle me a little bit, but she ended up going to the dark side…” How completely unlike Katie. This seems so out of character for her. Tom 1 and Jax Taylor were standing by, listening to their friend, and thanking the universe they are not in his position. “All of this over first class,” Sandoval chuckled.
Lala says she was sitting next to Katie during the two-hour flight. “She was so pissed about it”, Lala laughed. “Vintage Katie definitely came out.” So Katie acting like a complete tool is vintage now? I have been operating under the assumption that this is how Katie is as a human being, I have yet to see proof she wasn’t actually raised in the woods. I’m sure Lala has no problem remembering how Katie used to treat her.
Brittany Cartwright joined the conversation as well, “If Jax had sit up there…” What? What would have happened Brittany? I really want to know. As a punishment, would he have been subjected to your cartoon character laugh repeating on a loop? Because I know I would strive to be a better person just to make that stop.

Lisa Vanderpump definitely thinks Tom 2 should have relinquished the first class seat to his deserving spouse. Ken Todd wouldn’t DREAM of taking a seat away from his wife. Duh, his wife is Lisa Vanderpump, not Katie Maloney – see the difference there? I don’t recall Lisa ever lashing out at Ken on national television, insulting his manhood among other things.
While Katie sucked the joy from the airplane cabin, she apparently rage-texted her husband during the course of the flight. At one point she even questioned their marriage in her passive-aggressive taunts. When Tom 2 begged her to take the first class seat, she refused in an effort to “make a point”. According to Katie, his only options were to give her the seat immediately, or give it to someone else so they could sit in the back together.
I cannot be the only one that noticed Katie’s complete facial change when she first spotted The Betrayer in the front of the plane. The ice-cold, dark shadow that clouded her face was chilling at best. I knew. Viewers knew. Hell, even my cat knew Tom 2 was about to go down. I immediately lit a candle and began to pray for his immortal soul.

Thankfully, the crew landed without incident and Katie proceeded to carry her anger straight to the hotel room. Because, Katie. As Tom 2 continues his life, curled up in a corner in the fetal position, his friends thank their lucky stars on a daily basis they do not have to live with the entity known as, Tequila Katie.
