What is it about weddings that makes everyone want to make amends with someone they’ve wronged? Is it the aura of love and good feelings? Or the promise of new beginnings? Or perhaps the result of too many drinks? Whatever the reason there were a lot of olive branches going around at Candiace Dillard and Chris Bassett’s nuptials on the Real Housewives of Potomac.
Monique Samuels had to finesse her apology to Gizelle Bryant concerning the things she revealed about ex-boyfriend Sherman Douglas. Monique wanted to speak to Sherman as well, but he had every intention of avoiding her and didn’t show up to the wedding.
In her Bravo blog, Monique shared her experience with Gizelle and whether she expected an apology from Ashley Darby or not. During Monique’s first conversation that evening, the energy was still hostile and Gizelle was not ready to accept Monique’s apology. Before the two ladies could take it too far, Monique’s husband Chris Samuels pulled her away from the situation.
Monique shared what was going through her mind, “I just wanted to maintain peace and offer my apology to Gizelle and Sherman. She clearly wanted to remain mad so it was like talking to a brick wall. I was glad that Chris came to the rescue because I was starting to get irritated. I just didn’t want that type of stress while being pregnant.”
She added, “Chris is super protective of me since we had a miscarriage prior and even almost lost the pregnancy this time!”

Monique and Gizelle walked away from each other with no resolution. But before the night was over, Gizelle approached her rival and accepted her apology. Monique is skeptical, “when Gizelle later came to accept my apology, I thought it was very random since she wasn’t trying to hear it at first. I know she had a lot to drink so maybe her response was a bit delayed.”
Whatever the reason for Gizelle’s good will, she also brought it to Karen Huger in an attempt to mend fences. But there was one person who avoided getting on the apology train, and that is Ashley. She and Monique had a falling out last season. Ashley suggested Monique was drunk at the time of her accident and the two never resolved their issues.

Monique claims that she had no expectations about Ashley. She said, “like I stated the night of the wedding, I wasn’t thinking about Ashley. I was at the wedding to celebrate Candiace and Chris. I wasn’t expecting an apology from Ashley. This wasn’t the time nor the place for that.”
