On last night’s episode of Texicanas, the saga continued between Luz Ortiz and Mayra Farret. I swear it doesn’t matter how old the women are catfights will always exist. To think this drama is all over the word, “anal”. Maybe I am in the minority, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. SMH…But in the spirit of reality tv, take a small argument and drag it out for a season. These women definitely have taken a page out of The Real Housewives handbook!
Several of the women attended a mariachi mass with their families. Karla Ramirez barely crawled down the aisle to find a seat after completing the grueling Spartan race, the day before. I bet she will train beforehand if she ever agrees to do another one. The ladies attend lunch after mass with their families. Although Luz is not there, she and Mayra’s relationship (or lack thereof) becomes a topic of discussion. Mayra seems to be struggling with how they can coexist in one friend group. This will be a problem when the ladies are eventually put in a position to choose a side. If I were Mayra, I wouldn’t allow Luz to alienate me among women I have known longer than her.
Anayancy Nolasco is the only one of the group, who isn’t currently an American citizen. With her residency set to expire in two months, she prepares to fill out her paperwork. I am not sure Anayancy could make it through her paperwork, let alone a paper bag. She has to call her friend to see what race she would be considered, despite there only being a few options. This is a pretty standard question. I’m not sure why she is so confused.
Penny Ayarzagoitia agreed to walk in a charity fashion show. She met with Karla to try on dresses for the event. She filled Penny in on the conversation with Mayra not wanting to be at the same events as Luz. She became irritated with Mayra’s attitude, despite their seven-year relationship.
Mayra met with Anayancy for lunch and to grill her about taking sides. Ugh…Honestly, are we in 8th grade? Mayra doesn’t understand why Anayancy ran after Luz when they had their argument. This anal comment isn’t that serious for this fight to be dragged out like this. I was happy Anayancy didn’t back down. She tells her she didn’t handle things well with Luz. You think? Who challenges someone’s intelligence and pats them on the head over being called “anal.” Mayra, you are wayyyy too old to be acting like this, especially on national tv.
Luz and her best friend, Janet, went to dinner and we find out some additional details about the drama. Apparently, Mayra reached out to Luz to apologize and invite her to meet to discuss their issues via text. Luz decided not to respond to any of the messages and basically ignored her efforts. Ugh… seriously can no one be mature??
Annayancy visited her mother and her aunt to update them about her citizen paperwork. Her mother is already a citizen and is worried her daughter will not apply in time. She also asked her mother’s opinion about her boyfriend meeting her father. Her mom quickly shut that down by stating it’s not the time. Something tells me no one would be good enough for daddy’s little girl. But I think her mother is more worried about her immigration status than her boyfriend at this point.

Penny gets ready for the fashion show. She has a tense argument with her husband, Raul Ayarzagoitia about her son taking medication. He doesn’t feel it’s necessary for his son to be on medication, especially over the summer. The argument is quickly resolved when Raul agrees to attend the appointment and speak with the doctor.
All of the ladies showed up to support Penny and fashion isn’t the only show that happened that night. Luz and Mayra actually greeted each other politely despite their issues. Luz’s best friend, Janet approached Mayra and told her she wants to talk to her and give her advice. Ugh… beware of the well-meaning friend. She accused her of becoming a bully. I could have sworn this whole issue started with Janet giving unsolicited advice the first time. This was a bad idea.

Why would she think it would be appropriate to scold a grown woman she barely knows? Luz should have asked her friend not to get involved. At this point, understand Luz being upset, but Mayra did apologize and attempt to meet. It takes two to tango, ladies.
