The drama on The Real Housewives of Potomac was at an all time high on last week’s episode. Karen Huger declined to go out with the ladies, leaving everyone confused. She chose to go “live” on Instagram rather than spend time with the other women. Grief makes you do crazy things I suppose!
In addition to the Karen drama, Ashley Darby confronted Candiace Dillard regarding comments about her fertility journey. Despite Ashley saying she was staying sober to get pregnant, she’d been drinking quite a lot in New Orleans. This did NOT sit well with Candiace. Tonight is sure to pick up where we left off with Ashley and Candiace at each other’s throats.
We pick up directly with the fight between Ashley and Candiace. Gizelle Bryant immediately interjects and compares the situation to her saga with Karen. She actually makes some valid points about Candiace getting in her issue with Karen so she should be able to speak here.
Ashley ends up annoyingly chugging a beer during the fight. She is a walking ball of hypocrisy this season more than ever. Gizelle eventually is fed up with the chaos, and kicks everyone out. The most bizarre thing about this is that it was Gizelle who triggered the fight by throwing Candiace under the bus.

Gizelle meets up with everyone the next morning, and she is visibly annoyed with the Grand Dame. Karen offers no apologies for skipping the festivities, and this isn’t sitting well with Gizelle.
Karen was so nonchalant with Gizelle, and every week it grows more apparent that they should call it quits on the friendship. So much has gone done between the two that I don’t foresee them ever getting on the same page again.
Monique Samuels was FOR SURE acting like a bone collector in the car with Robyn Dixon and Karen. It’s not her business at all with what went down between Ashley and Candiace. What is even weirder is that she of all people would be Team Ashley in this feud.
Ashley dragged Monique last season for drinking, and now this year she’s defending Ashley’s drinking in a way. Okay. Everyone was talking about how Candiace has a lot of growing up to do, but what exactly did Candiace do wrong here? She was calling Ashley out about SOMETHING ASHLEY SAID TO THE GROUP.

If Ashley had NEVER EVER said that she was staying sober, nobody would bat an eye. She set this in motion, so I’m not sure what everyone is jumping all over Candiace here.
Ashley and Katie Rost visit a tarot card reader and I’m loving it. If anyone needs a clear picture of her future, it’s Ashley. Naturally, she asks the reader to focus on fertility during the reading. Katie also kind of dresses like someone that would be a tarot reader so this is a great fit for her.
The reader says one of the cards is a red flag type card which indicates a possible problem ahead. He says she’s putting too much pressure on becoming a mother that it’s having the opposite effect.
THE CRAZY PART is that he says she will be pregnant within a year, which we know to be true. Ashley is due to give birth to her first child any week now.
It’s actually really cool seeing how rooted Gizelle and her family are in American history. She may be messy, but she’s such a dynamic powerhouse in her real life. What an incredible moment seeing Gizelle, her father, the first female mayor of New Orleans, and the restaurant owner there. Candiace was there too, but eh.
When it comes to the Real Housewives, we tend to fixate on the drama and the spectacle of it all. However, sometimes it’s a nice change of pace to see something like this. Gizelle is giving us so much history and culture on this New Orleans trip.

Karen, Robyn, and Monique are on an alligator swamp tour, and they are so out of place. It’s absolutely hilarious. THE GRAND DAME OF POTOMAC IS FACE TO FACE WITH A GATOR. That is comedy gold. Karen looked genuinely terrified, and I loved every second of it.
My favorite thing about Housewives trips is how they frequently take the women out of their element. We see them in their cities all the time. That gets blah. It’s fresh and fun seeing them mixing it up somewhere new.
Ashley and Katie went lingerie shopping and tried on tassels. Ashley has given us so many TOO MUCH moments this season. She looked fine, but did we really want to see that? No.
On behalf of America, I beg Ashley to stop doing provocative scenes. We’re really good on that actually. Thank you though.
The time has come for Gizelle’s father’s 80th birthday celebration! They showed Katie getting ready, and what a hot mess she is. Wow. She is not put together at all. I’m not sure what she’s going through, but it’s something she should fix ASAP.
Ashley shockingly apologized to Monique for what happened last season, on the way to the party. Even Monique was surprised to hear an actual apology come from Ashley’s mouth. The surprises kept coming when Candiace also apologized to Ashley for her behavior the previous night.
This birthday is bringing people together, but knowing this group the peace won’t last. It’s always something, and the drama with Karen and Gizelle is still bubbling at the surface waiting to boil over.

Karen is on the warpath against Gizelle on this trip. She actually just told a love interest of Gizelle’s to run away because of the Sherman stuff. Just wow.
I honestly don’t want to hear Karen complain about Gizelle anymore. She’s gone out of her way to make this trip problematic for Gizelle, and that’s not cool.
Candiace and Karen discuss Ashley’s conflicting messages. Ashley told Candiace she doesn’t think she’s ready for her to be in her life yet. There is a general feeling of fakeness coming from Ashley by the two of them.
Monique comes to Ashley’s defense and it seems to be because of the miscarriage connection. The brief truce between Candiace and Ashley doesn’t last long because it comes out that Candiace wasn’t fully apologizing. She was only sorry for aggressive behavior and not the content of her issue.
Another argument breaks out at the table and Monique and Gizelle try to mediate. Gizelle is understandably annoyed that an argument broke up during her father’s party. She shuts it down quickly and gives a touching speech to honor her dad.
Candiace leads the Happy Birthday song, and it’s something that happened. I’d like to move on. The women made fun of her over the top rendition, and I’m right there with them. Candiace, I love you, but no.
That performance did NOT take the cake on any level. Sadface. I wonder how her new debut single is doing. AH.

The next day, they all meet up for the final day of their New Orleans trip. They leave Katie behind because she’s still passed out in bad the poor thing. Bless her heart. Crazy Katie can’t hang I guess.
I WANT TO GO ON A STEAMBOAT TOUR SO BAD. I never realized I wanted that until this moment, but now it’s all I can think about. So much FOMO watching these women most of the time. The fun, the drama, all of it. I want it ALL.
Gizelle hit Karen with shade about grieving, and a bomb of drama exploded. Sorry Karen, but you can’t get mad at her for saying that. You used the grief to get out of various events on this trip, despite seemingly completely fine on Instagram.
Karen questions Gizelle about her relationship with Sherman Douglas which Gizelle continues to say is dead and done. Why does Karen keep inquiring about this? Gizelle has made is clear she is over Sherman and shouldn’t have to keep discussing it.
Karen doesn’t want anyone digging into her life, so why should she be able to know all of Gizelle’s business? Karen has a total freakout at this cafe, and it’s so random. She’s blasting Gizelle left and right with expletives out of nowhere.
