The Real Housewives of New York has one of the more stable Housewife casts. These ladies just don’t give up their apples very often. Or have them taken away. Ramona Singer is at 11 seasons, Sonja Morgan at 9, Bethenny Frankel at 8, Dorinda Medley at 5 and Tinsley Mortimer at 3. Luann de Lesseps is also at 11 seasons– but was demoted to Friend Of status for Season 6. And I would still love to know the real story behind that slap in the face!
Every year, there are rumors about who might be staying, who might be going and who might be added to the cast. This year, the big talk has been that Deidre Scaramucci, wife of former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci is going to be a new Housewife. And a few of the current RHONY ladies recently spoke out on the casting chatter.
US Weekly asked New York cast members Barbara Kavovit and Luann about the rumors that Deidre will become a Housewife next season. Barbara confessed, “I know as much as you know, just what I read!” Hopefully, Barbara is not reading too much, as there has been some gossip about her not being invited back next season. Don’t worry–yet, Barbara!
And Barbara also revealed that she would be open to coming back next season. She stated, “You know, I would consider [returning]. There’s still things that are left undone. And I kind of might want to get back into it and, you know, they filmed so much of me on my job sites, but they never aired it. And I just think that I’m really grounded and I think I lend something to that group. At least that’s what I have been told.”

OK, Barbara—who has been telling you that? You seem like a nice lady, but you don’t appear to have the ability to create a storyline for yourself. Building sites are not what viewers want–we expect more. Like starting a vicious rumor. Accusing someone of lying. Or smashing stemware on a table. And your Housewife qualifying financial problems haven’t even been featured on the show!
What does Luann think of the casting talk? She confesses that “she doesn’t know Deidre.” And because of this, Luann says, “So I don’t know if she would be good. But the name is kind of interesting. Who’s scared of Scaramucci? I don’t know!” Would Luann be scared of Scaramucci? Or would she just think of her as another loyal cabaret fan to sign an autograph for?

Deidre herself has hinted that she would be open to doing the show, but it will likely be months before we find out if there is any truth to the rumor. And names will probably continue to pop up in the coming months.
Frankly, I am just waiting until the name Jill Zarin is thrown out there again. Likely by Jill herself! And while we don’t know what will happen with next season’s casting, it is a pretty safe bet that Jill shouldn’t start practicing tag lines. Or blocking off possible filming dates in the Hamptons. Unless they are of the Instagram video variety.
