The big news in Housewife Land has been that the Real Housewives of Orange County is back for Season 14. I have to admit, the last few seasons of RHOC have not been stellar, but I have remained optimistic that things will get better. And from the looks of this season’s trailer, it appears that Season 14 will be a good one, full of cast trips, fights and meltdowns. Finally!
All of the cast will be back, with a few changes in store. Braunwyn Windham-Burke has been added as a new Housewife. OG Vicki Gunvalson is now in a Friend of role. I am sure she was hoarse from shrieking by the end of the day she learned about that decision! And Vicki’s Tres Amigas pal Shannon Beador will continue to share her post-divorce journey with viewers–but one thing is different about her.
Shannon revealed to Bravo’s The Daily Dish that she has a new name. This season, she will be known as Shannon Storms Beador, adding her maiden name to her previous married name. And it is official, as her new name is up on the Bravo OC cast website.
You might wonder why Shannon has changed her name. She had previously told The Daily Dish podcast that a name change might be coming. Shannon stated, “It’s been requested from my ex that I’m not worthy of the name Beador.” I can see ex-hubby David Beadors’ point–the name “Beador” is quite respected and regal–akin to Rockefeller, Vanderbilt and Windsor. An angry ex-wife could discredit his good name with one bitter tweet.
At the time, Shannon declared, “For the sake of my kids, I think I am going to stay Shannon Beador.” Which makes sense. Keeping the last name your children have would make things easier legally and probably give them a sense of normalcy after a divorce that had turned ugly.

Always the comedian, Shannon said, “Now I call myself Shannon Storms Beador. So, it’s kind of like the best of both worlds.”
She also joked that “Shannon Storms” was “reminiscent of stripper porn.”
Shannon Storms Beador is a fitting name for the dramatic Housewife formally known as Shannon Beador. It truly fits her sometimes temperamental personality. As in, “Shannon Storms out of the room.” And Shannon Storms-a-coming-so-you-better-seek-shelter-immediately.”

Wouldn’t it be great if the other OC ladies also had last names that fit them? Occasionally incontinent Vicki could be “Vicki Fawcett.” Often angry Kelly Dodd would make a perfect “Kelly Fury.” Gina Kirschenheiter could be “Gina Court,” due to her familiarity with the legal system. And Tamra Judge could be, well, Tamra Judge, as her name perfectly fits her judging personality. No wonder she married Eddie Judge!
Season 14 premiers on August 6th. Let’s hope for a great season filled with drama, laughter and adventures from the ladies. With Vicki as a “Friend of” the newly renamed Dos Amigas, of course!
