The Real Housewives of Dallas is one of the best kept secrets on Bravo. Although the show and its stars don’t always get the attention or recognition of some of the other Housewife shows, the cast usually delivers. The ladies have real money, throw real drama and they aren’t afraid to embarrass themselves on camera. Over and over. Isn’t that right, Brandi Redmond?
Last season, we watched the painful disintegration of the friendship of LeeAnne Locken and D’Andra Simmons. Stephanie Hollman touchingly shared her history of mental health issues and how she has worked to overcome them. Kameron Wescott continued to welcome us into her fabulous pink and sparkly world. Now, a new lady has been added to the cast of RHOD.
Kary Brittingham announced she is joining the cast for Season 4 in an Instagram post. Kary shared, “As most of you have heard I’m the new RHOD cast member! I was very conflicted at first if I wanted to do this but anyone who knows me knows that I like to live life to the fullest! I love an adventure and this has definitely been that!”
It sounds like Kary is up for the challenge of being a Housewife. As we all know, becoming a Housewife changes lives forever. Relatively anonymous people become recognizable reality stars overnight. Financial opportunities come their way, along with opportunities for viewers to express their opinions about them. Nothing–from marital secrets to finances to levels of alcohol consumption is off-limits.

From Kary’s post, it sounds like she has found the adventure she has been seeking. She stated, “I have met amazing new people and I’m making life long friends along the way. I’m learning every day and growing as a person. This will be the biggest roller coaster ride, so excited to share this with all of you. Thank you to everyone that have been supportive as I really needed it these past few months.”
Hopefully, all those supportive people stick around once the season begins. That is when some of the real stress of being a new Housewife occurs. Anonymity and privacy will become a memory and not only will your co-stars have opinions about you, so will the viewers. Sometimes favorable–and sometimes not so favorable.

Kary’s Bravo bio reveals that she was introduced to the cast through her connection to D’Andra, who is a neighbor. Kary is married, a mother of four and is originally from Guadalajara, Mexico. Not surprisingly, her bio also teases that “her relationship with LeeAnne gets off to a rocky start.”
RHOD’s other Cary/Kary, Cary Deuber, is still a cast member, but is now a Friend of the Housewives. Cary kept herself out of much of the fray last season. So, it is not surprising she has taken on a lesser role on the show. Will the cast differentiate them by calling them Cary 1 and Kary 2? Or New Kary and Old Cary?

We will have to wait for the new season to start on September 4th to see how Kary fares as a Housewife. I am hoping that Kary’s connection to D’Andra means that their connection also extends to the amazing Mama Dee Simmons. More screen time for Mama Dee, please!
