Real Housewives of Orange County alum Gretchen Rossi has always attracted controversy. Gretchen was engaged to a much-older man, Jeff Beitzel, when she first joined the cast. After Jeff’s death, Gretchen started a relationship with serial Housewife-dater Slade Smiley during Season 5. None of her fellow RHOC co-stars were supportive of the match. If Gretchen hadn’t scored him, Slade was in danger of running out of Housewives to financially support him date.
When Gretchen proposed to Slade with the Bravo cameras rolling, it was both a cringe-worthy over-the-top stunt, and a desperate bid for Gretchen to keep her Housewife position. Gretchen had her man flown in by helicopter to the top of AT&T building, where Gretchen popped the question. If Slade had proposed, Gretchen would probably have been presented with a single rose and a candy ring pop.
Slade’s financial woes, including not paying the child support that he owes for his son, have been a hot topic among the RHOC ladies. Slade even landed in jail because he missed a court date regarding his unpaid child support. It also appeared that Slade wasn’t working, although Gretchen often said otherwise. Of course, the OC Housewives have also shaded Gretchen’s handbag and beauty business.
In happier news, Gretchen announced daughter Skylar’s arrival on her Instagram. “And then there were 3—Thank you to the good Lord above for the most precious gift we have ever been given! Our perfect little miracle!—-Introducing our precious baby girl SKYLAR GRAY SMILEY!! @skylargray777 . We took some time off social media to just bond and be with our little angel!” Skylar was born on July 10, and yes, she has an Instagram acount.

But what should be a happy time is turning into a financial nightmare for the new mom. According to The Blast, Gretchen’s home may be auctioned off on August 26 if the reality star doesn’t come up with a $26,000 payment. Yikes! Quality Loan Service Corporation notified Gretchen in April that she was in default on her mortgage. The company accused her of being delinquent $25,894.91 in her payments.
They told Gretchen that she had 90 days to cough up the cash, or they would foreclose on the condo. The total balance owed on Gretchen’s mortgage is $431,529.79. The condo, which Gretchen and Slade share, is in Costa Mesa and boasts 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

Perhaps Gretchen and Slade should have toned-down their lavish baby shower, or reduced Gretchen’s glam squad budget. (Just saying.) Hopefully the new parents can resolve this situation soon.
