Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days, contained “the three D’s”, disappointment, demands and delusion. I believe all three of these components are necessary for the success of this show. This shit show just doesn’t work, if you don’t have at least two on that list.
Stephanie Matto makes a life-changing decision. Lisa Hamme finally meets her Nigerian boo. Ed Brown worries Rose won’t feel a connection when they meet. Darcey Silva makes a shocking discovery about Tom Brooks. Geoffrey Paschel’s first day in Russia is off to a bumpy start. Let’s get straight into the recap!
Geoffrey, 41 (Knoxville, Tenn.) & Varya, 30 (Russia)
Geoffrey and Varya Malina continue their awkward courtship while he is in Russia. Frankly, this is hard to watch. Geoffrey seems like more of a dad figure than a suitor right now. He becomes even more uncomfortable once he finds out that Varya has no intention of staying at the hotel with him. When they arrive at the hotel, they discuss the awkwardness and their first impressions. Apparently, they thought each other were standoffish and robotic.
Geoffrey realizes he is far from home when he goes to dinner with Varya. When she attempts to find out more about his ex-wife and children, Geoffrey presses the brakes on the subject. I believe he is trying to avoid talking about his son who passed away, but Varya probably thinks he isn’t being open.
Lisa, 52 (York, Pa.) & Usman “SojaBoy,” 30 (Nigeria)
Ummm… what the hell did Lisa sign up for? Usman literally lives in one room with his two other friends in Nigeria. I really hope she is staying at a hotel and not his cramped quarters. When Usman goes out with friends and reveals Lisa’s picture, they are shocked by her appearance and age. They also think she will be trouble for his career when they find out about her jealous ways with his fans.
For some reason, Usman decides to bring his two roommates and a single rose to pick up Lisa from the airport. In a post interview, Usman admits that Lisa didn’t look as he expected physically. In his words, she had more “belly” than he expected and he would have preferred a more statuesque woman with a small waist. But he does say that his fiancé has a beautiful personality and that is what matters. When his friends meet Lisa, they are shocked he is happy with her. In the car, after kissing a thousand times, Lisa makes it clear she expects Usman all to herself. Usman has pulled out all the stops with a nice hotel room, flowers and a teddy bear. Godspeed Usman! Lisa said she didn’t fly 7,000 miles to go to sleep. She is going to have her way with him, whether he is attracted to her or not. I hope that Visa is worth it!
Stephanie, 29 (New York) & Erika, 24 (Australia)
Stephanie and Erika Owens are the first same-sex couple to ever appear on the 90 Day franchise. They both identify as bisexual and met through social media. Although their relationship started as just friends, they quickly fell in love. Stephanie is now heading to Australia to meet Erika in person. But she is facing a series of challenges that might hinder her. Stephanie has yet to reveal her sexual orientation or her relationship with Erika to her family. She also has a rare bone marrow disorder called aplastic anemia, which could be deadly if she gets even a common cold during her trip to Australia. When Stephanie’s family visits for dinner she reveals that she is visiting her ‘friend” Erika, but doesn’t share anymore about their true relationship. Her family believes she is filming a show about her illness so they don’t understand why she is risking her health for this trip.
Darcey, 45(Connecticut) & Tom, 39 (England)
Darcey receives a text with pictures of Tom with another woman from her twin, Stacey. Considering the pair hasn’t been talking much, Darcey believes this woman may be the reason. I am surprised she didn’t go into full meltdown mode. Maybe this is a sign of maturity or that she may be starting to see her and Tom’s relationship, for what it is.
Ed, 54 (San Diego) & Rosemarie, 23 (Philippines)
Ed has finally arrived in the Philippines and I can’t wait to see Rose’s reaction. It’s a possibility she will ignore the lies Ed told about his looks in order to solidify her green card. It’s obvious she wants more than current circumstances for her son and herself. When two finally meet, Rose is clearly shocked by his appearance. She politely says she is attracted to him when Ed directly asks her. Chile, this is trip is going to get good. Rose only cares about how his money looks.
Avery, 32 (Seattle) & Ash, 38 (Australia)
Avery Warner has dropped off her children and is on her way to see the man she believes is the love of her life. Personally, I don’t trust Ash Naeck as far as I can throw him. Before Avery’s arrival, he stops by the florist to pick up a bouquet for her. The florist confesses that Ash is one of his best customers. Apparently, he gets flowers for many women, all the time. I can’t wait to see how this visit unfolds once Avery arrives.
Yolanda, 51 (Las Vegas, NV) & Williams, 40 (England)
Yolanda Leak, are you Caesar’s long lost sister? Your story lines with an obvious catfish and childlike naivety seem eerily similar. After trying to contact Williams on social media, Yolanda discovers he deleted his account. Despite all the warning signs that she is being ghosted, she continues to try to contact him for answers. Chile, please! Is there no one that can talk any sense into this woman? She would have more luck signing up for a dating site than talking to this strange man with the voice and personality of a serial killer. Girl, are you that lonely that you can’t see this ruse, for what it is?
TELL US- WHY DO YOU THINK GEOFFREY AND VARYA ARE SO AWKWARD TOGETHER? DO YOU THINK USMAN IS USING LISA FOR A GREEN CARD? ARE YOU SURPRISED TOM HAS BEEN SPENDING TIME WITH ANOTHER WOMAN? DO YOU THINK ROSE IS TRULY ATTRACTED TO ED?
