We are all eagerly anticipating the return of Real Housewives of New York next week. Aside from seeing all of our favorites back on TV again, we will “meet” new RHONY cast member Leah McSweeney.
In comparison to the other Real Housewives shows, the Real Housewives of New York cast doesn’t change too often. We all saw Barbara Kavovit struggle when most of the cast refused to welcome her into the group. That was a total fail. How will Leah fare in comparison? She’s hinted about it in some recent interviews.
In an interview with Daily Mail, Leah shared, “I definitely felt like there was a little bit of a hazing process but the thing is I think they all didn’t want to like me but they do.” Leah added, “So they couldn’t haze me for too long…well Ramona’s different story.” Ramona Singer giving someone a tough time? That’s so out of character for her. Cue my eyeroll.
Leah also told New York Post that she had “the most interesting dynamic” with Ramona. Then, she seemingly shaded Ramona’s age, telling the publication, “You have to understand, my mother is only a couple years older than her. I was going through some issues with my mom during the show, which everybody will see, and I think that my emotional outburst with Ramona had to do with a lot of my own issues with my mom.”

In her Daily Mail interview, Leah said she got off to a “rocky start” with Dorinda Medley. Dorinda previously described Leah as a combination of Dorinda and Jessie James, so, apparently, things got better for them.
Leah also described her first time meeting Sonja Morgan as “just so-so.” Leah elaborated, “It was okay but there were no fireworks. Things obviously change throughout the course of the season.”

In contrast, Leah was “vibing right away with” Luann de Lesseps. Leah joined the cast as a friend of Tinsley Mortimer’s, but, it’s unclear how close they actually are. If you recall, Tinsley joined as a friend of Sonja’s and they argued about Tinsley being ungrateful houseguest for two seasons. That was some friendship, right?
