Katie Maloney Says Lisa Vanderpump Messed Up Marriage License Paperwork

Honestly, wasn’t it enough to be tortured subjected to one wedding for Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz?Apparently not. As we watched the re-do wedding of Katie and Schwartz in Vegas last week, I held on to the hope that they would get it right this time so we don’t have to sit through this tired storyline anymore.

But in similar fashion to her Vanderpump Rules co-stars, Katie isn’t taking responsibility for her marriage license mishap. Truly shocking!

Sitting down with her co-stars Lala Kent and Stassi Schroeder on the Vanderpump Rules Aftershow, Katie explains how this entire debacle is actually Lisa Vanderpump’s fault. Okay, Katie.

“So, Lisa didn’t fill out everything. She didn’t finish filling out everything when we sent it in. So, they sent it back to us.”

“So, we filled it all in, and then we sent it back. And then we called and we’re like ‘what’s going on with it?’ And they’re like ‘we don’t have it.’”

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t you double check the paperwork that legally binds you as a married couple before sending it in? Maybe I am giving these two too much credit. I probably am.

But Stassi points out that maybe this is all the fault of the United States Postal Service, who according to Real Housewives of Dallas star LeeAnne Locken, loses thirty percent of mail. I seriously hope that Stassi doesn’t get all of her facts about the world from the Real Housewives franchise.

“It’s just one of those things where it’s just, like, more time kept passing, and then we would just forget about it,” Katie continues. Lala points out that this is, in fact, a problem if something were to go inevitably wrong in their relationship. Stassi points out that they wouldn’t even be able to file for divorce.

“I know and that’s the problem,” Katie agrees. “Well you know what? Maybe in the back of my mind I was like ‘well if this guy fucks up…’”

“You can just walk out,” Lala finishes for her. Katie replies with a weak “just kidding.”

I’m no psychologist, but I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks that Katie and Tom put off filing their marriage license because they didn’t really want to be married. We’ve seen Tom struggle with fidelity and his fear of commitment. We’ve seen Katie’s trust issues. Maybe this was Katie’s way of protecting herself from heartbreak. Or maybe, and more likely, it was just Tom and Katie being Tom and Katie.

But now that the pair is actually legally married, maybe they’ve had a change of heart. Let’s hope so.

“Honestly, it’s just a piece of paper to me,” Tom says, sitting down with his counterpart Tom Sandoval.“ Ultimately, I could give two shits about that thing. I wanted an excuse to go to Vegas and fall in love all over again.” How romantic!

While I enjoyed the tacky Vegas wedding far more than their first wedding, I’m hoping Vanderpump Rules makes a return to more antics in the style of the witches of WeHo.
