First and foremost, it’s a relief to know that Dina Manzo and her husband David Cantin are safe and sound right now. This week, the story broke that Dina’s ex-husband Tommy Manzo reportedly hired a hitman, John Perna, from the Lucchese crime family, to attack David.
Allegedly, he didn’t even pay the guy. Instead, he reportedly gave him a heavily discounted wedding reception at the Brownstone, the catering hall that Tommy runs with his brother Albert Manzo, Caroline Manzo’s husband. For anyone who’s a little confused seeing the last name “Manzo” so many times in two paragraphs, here’s a little reminder on the back story: Dina and Caroline are sisters who got married to brothers.
Page Six reported that Tommy pleaded not guilty to the charges via Zoom. Oh, 2020. Zoom is really taking over everything, isn’t it? The federal judge gave him a $1000,000 bail for charges of committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering, assault with a dangerous weapon and falsifying records. Both of those charges carry a 20-year maximum sentence and $250,000 fine. If he makes bail, he will be under supervision and must surrender his passports and travel documents.
John Perna, the man who got that heavily discounted Brownstone wedding, got the same charges, but he will be under 24-hour supervision and house arrest with a monitor.

Apparently, there were 330 people at this wedding reception, including “many members” of the Lucchese crime family.
In November 2019, FBI agents had a search warrant, seizing invoices for that wedding at the Brownstone and found hidden documents.

Despite all of this information, Tommy’s lawyer said that he was “absolutely innocent, and the allegations more resemble a fictionalized plot of a reality TV show and will be proven to be nothing more than that.”
WOW. That was a lot to unpack.
