This season, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills viewers have seen Teddi Mellencamp juggle her pregnancy, her career as an accountability coach, and being stapled to her BFF, Kyle Richards. For the most part, Teddi has been showing off her pregnancy glow.
RHOBH star Teddi and her husband, Edwin Arroyave, welcomed their third child, a daughter, on February 25, 2020. Teddi and Edwin already share two children— a son named Cruz, and a daughter named Slate. Edwin also has another daughter from a prior relationship.
Teddi shared her newborn daughter’s name, writing, “Dove Mellencamp Arroyave. 19.5 inches, 6lbs 8oz, 5:59pm on 2/25/20 #lovedove,” Teddi wrote with a dove and heart emojis.
But during what should be a happy time in their lives, Teddi and Edwin are facing their infant daughter’s upcoming neurosurgery. Teddi took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of Dove and reveal Dove’s health battle.

Teddi wrote, “Dealing with anxiety, especially when in the ‘public eye,’ isn’t easy; and going into July it’s at an all-time high. I was torn as to whether I should share this information, but as someone who tries to be as transparent as possible, and knowing I have a platform to reach others in similar situations, I would like to update you all,” Teddi said.
“Our sweet baby Dove was diagnosed with Lambdoid Craniosynostosis and has to undergo neurosurgery at the end of the month.”

US Weekly reported that Teddi originally thought that Dove had Torticollis, like her brother Cruz. This condition causes the head to twist to the side and is caused by neck muscles contracting.
“Instead a CT scan showed Lambdoid Craniosynostosis (Lambdoid craniosynostosis is a very rare type of non-syndromic craniosynostosis and occurs when one of the lambdoid sutures at the back of the head fuses before birth), Teddi explained in her Instagram post.

According to the Mayo Clinic, this fusion happens before the baby’s brain is completely formed. As the brain continues to grow, the head develops a misshapen look.
Teddi continued, “We are so grateful to have an amazing team of doctors and surgeons who have caught this early and will be working on her. The recovery is about a week in the hospital and a couple weeks at home with a very high success rate.”

“So although we are filled with nerves as neurosurgery sounds scary, we have our faith that she will be ok,” Teddi wrote. “Please keep baby Dove in your prayers and if you have had a child with this same surgery, please let me know below, as I would love any additional insight and support. Sending [love] to you all,” Teddi added.
Many of Teddi’s RHOBH co-stars commented on her Instagram post. Kyle said, “Love you guys and baby Dove.” She added a dove and heart emoji. Erika Jayne and Lisa Rinna both posted several heart emojis to show their support.

“Sending prayers up. Y’all got this!” Sutton Stracke wrote with a praying hands emoji. Dorit Kemsley added praying hands and heart emojis.
I am sending positive thoughts to Dove, Teddi, and Edwin as they deal with Dove’s upcoming surgery and recovery.
