Leah McSweeney is a lot of things. New cast member on Real Housewives of New York. Drunken mess. Ramona Singer frenemy. Fan favorite. It’s true, fans love Leah. She’s a breath of fresh air on what I would call a vintage franchise. Leah has even called for more diversity amongst the cast, something we haven’t seen since Jules Wainstein in season 8.
But Leah isn’t without controversy. She has a past of controversial statements. She wrote a piece about “toxic femininity”. And according to Ramona, she has a serious drinking problem. That might have something to do with Leah claiming Ramona poops during sex in a now-infamous Cameo. But either way, Leah is going there and Ramona, for once, is powerless to stop her.
Still, fans can’t get enough of Leah, and apparently, celebs can’t either. Bravo superfan, Jerry O’Connell is one of those celebs, who is best known for being married to Rebecca Romijn (at least in my eyes), he’s also a frequent guest on Watch What Happens Live.
So, Jerry is throwing his opinion down about Leah and it’s high praise to say the least. Jerry recently told Us Weekly, “I think Leah is fitting in great and that’s tough. You have to be a strong person to break into that group.” He’s not wrong about that. I’m actually a little shocked that Leah fit in so nicely with the group.

She may go a little wild when they are drinking but she would be in good company. Let’s face it, I can’t remember a time when Sonja Morgan wasn’t dancing on a table or falling off a chair while drinking. She can blame it on the water pills all she wants but Sonja is a party girl, plain and simple. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Sonja going off the deep end are some of my favorite scenes.
Jerry continued, “It may be the toughest group of all and Leah may have done it the best. I mean, I’m going to say it right now, Leah may be the best rookie housewife of all time.” That is a serious statement right there.

Jerry is also impressed with Leah’s relationships and said, “She jumped right in as a New Yorker, immediately bonded with Countess [Luann de Lesseps], went through a few arguments with people, held her own. Really, really nothing, but praise.” Ok, well now we know exactly where Jerry stands on the matter.

Even if she is well-liked, only time will tell how long Leah will last on this franchise. With any luck, she will be giving us antics and maybe even Cameo tea, for years to come.
