Some things never change on Real Housewives of Potomac. Once again, Season 5 has Ashley Darby’s marriage, and her husband Michael Darby, as a focal point of the drama. On the positive side of things, Ashley’s dreams of becoming a mother were fulfilled when she gave birth to their son, Dean, on July 7, 2019.
This couple has certainly weathered some marital storms. During the RHOP Season 2 reunion, Ashley announced that she and Michael had separated. Then they decided to reconcile.
On September 1, 2018, Michael was charged with sexual assault for allegedly grabbing a cameraman’s butt. The incident occurred during filming for Season 4, and Michael was suspended from filming.
The charges against Michael were later dropped, and he was allowed to return to the show. Ashley stood by his side and proclaimed his innocence during the scandal.
At a party for Ashley’s uncle during Season 4, a drunken Michael was caught on film complimenting a male bartender. Hours later, Michael was heard on a hot mic saying about an unnamed male that he would “suck his dick.” RHOP co-star Robyn Dixon later revealed that Michael was talking about her ex-husband, Juan Dixon. Now that is awkward! And as if that wasn’t enough, the word on the street is that Michael has repeatedly cheated on Ashley.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ashley shared that she could relate to actor and rapper Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and their marital issues. So, what was going on with Will and Jada?
In June, US Weekly reported that Jada and Will appeared on Jada’s Facebook talk show, Red Table Talk, to confirm that Jada had a relationship with singer August Alsina. The couple stated that they were separated for a time, and Jada stated that she “got into a “different kind of entanglement” with August.
Ashley watched Jada and Will on that episode of Jada’s show. “Oh my gosh. You know, I related to that a little more than I’d like to admit,” Ashley told Entertainment Tonight. She added, “I was like, man, Jada. I’m with you girl. I get it.” But why does Ashley relate to Jada? Do Ashley and her husband have some type of arrangement in their marriage?
The first-time mom continued, “I mean, marriage is just so hard–and it’s really hard being a public figure and having difficulties, and it’s even more difficult when you decide to talk about them and say some things that aren’t necessarily fitting the mold of what people think a marriage is or should be.”
We will be learning more about Michael’s wandering ways in upcoming episodes of Real Housewives of Potomac. While the ladies (and baby Dean) relaxed at Monique Samuels’ lake house, Michael was apparently at a strip club. We know this because a friend of Candiace Dillard Bassett texted her and said that Michael was at the club trying to get girls to go to his hotel room. It seems like Michael hasn’t changed a bit!
