Portugal is the much needed reset The Real Housewives of Potomac needed to move on from the fight. I understand the altercation between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett was a big deal. However, they can’t let that one incident drag down the entire season. Letting loose and having some fun even if it’s just temporary, lightens everything in a big way.
We last left these lovely ladies with Gizelle Bryant and Karen Huger at odds. They each want to meddle in the other’s relationship, and it’s a vicious cycle. They’ve been throwing digs at each other for five seasons now, and it never changes. One day it might boil over and reach the point of no return, but for now, let’s enjoy the back and forth shade. Jamal Bryant isn’t around ever, but is it Karen’s place to call that out?
The fight between Gizelle and Karen continues about Jamal, and it’s nasty. Karen has a point about Jamal, but why can’t they just stop attacking each other’s relationships? It would do everyone a world of good.
We all know Karen’s marriage isn’t in a good place. That’s a cold hard fact. All of that being said, Gizelle’s relationship with Jamal is sketchy. He’s never around. It won’t workout between them. It all feels like a fantasy Gizelle has concocted for the show.
Okay I’m extremely annoyed that Karen just tried to spoil Juan Dixon’s proposal plan. It was stupid of Gizelle to film a video outside of the jewelry store though. However, what satisfaction does Karen get by going there right now? There’s no reason to do that. Go after Gizelle, and leave Robyn Dixon alone.
The women take a toboggan ride through the streets of Portugal, and it looks so fun. Terrifying too. There are actual cars everywhere around them. They all survived though! Bonus points to Karen for keeping her wig straight.

An actual wave of sadness just hit me when I realized this might be like the last international Housewives trip. The pandemic has made travelling the world impossible, so we might not see this for a long time. My heart is broken, and I need an Ashley Darby corona to heal my wounded soul.
Gizelle pulls Karen aside at the market to confront her about bringing up Robyn’s future engagement. Karen has done it twice now. What the hell Karen? Robyn has been good to Karen this season for the most part. There’s no reason to blow up a surprise like that. I normally love Karen, but there’s some stuff pissing me off right now.
Honestly though, I’d take anything over Wendy Osefo bringing up her degrees 38538428 times. This is gold compared to that. No amount of money could make me sit through that again. A guy can only take so much. Lord, help me if this woman brings up her degrees one more time. STOP.
Gizelle tells Ashley she secretly got a key to Wendy’s room. What in the newbie hazing is about to go down? After dinner Candiace is going to distract Wendy, while they place plastic spiders and snakes in her bed. I love playful pranks like this! After the heavy drama of the group as of late, this is a much needed comedic moment.

After telling Ashley that, Gizelle spills the proposal tea to Ashley as well. NOW TWO OF THE WOMEN KNOW. The more people that learn this, the more of a chance it’ll get back to Robyn. Word on the street is Gizelle has a big mouth.
All of the ladies are looking extra stunning for dinner. Will this be the moment Ashley finally tells Candiace about the letter for Monique? She can’t keep it a secret forever. This nice escape to Portugal is going to erupt into madness once that gets revealed.
Candiace is finally more open to becoming a mother, and you can see the wheels in Ashley’s head turning. The second Candiace starts drinking on this trip, she’s opening the door to criticism from Ashley. I’m not sure if it’s fair, but you came for her, and now you’re opening the door to her coming for you.
I will say that Candiace is trying to be super respectful to Ashley at dinner, but Ashley is on rewind. Her sorted past with Candiace is being renewed by this baby talk, and it’s not going well. It’s important to note as well that Queen Robyn keeps rolling her eyes during this conversation. Clearly, she’s on the verge of saying something.

I’m Team Candiace here BECAUSE I feel like an issue should be squashed forever once it’s squashed. If you sit down and hash things out to resolve it, leave it there. Don’t bring it up so much longer later as a weapon again. That’s some weak BS. I knew Ashley would go here.
Candiace is trying so hard to bury the hatchet with her yet again, but Ashley won’t budge. That’s ridiculous. What does she want from this conversation? It seemed like they were miles past this. Insert my biggest eye roll ever.
It is the night for everyone to bring up the past I guess. Robyn has a bone to pick with Ashley about how she used to attack her family. Damn y’all. We are on a major rewind tonight.
LIVING FOR THE WOMEN SCARING WENDY WITH THESE FAKE SNAKES AND SPIDERS. She just really grinds my gears, and this gives me satisfaction. They tried jumping out of the closet to scare her, and it was so weak. Do better please.

All of the women huddle around a producer’s camera to watch for Wendy’s reaction to the critters. That was so much better. She almost peed herself. It was worth every bit of the effort.
The following morning, Robyn shows Gizelle the photos from her hat photoshoot. However, there’s one problem. The photos of Karen are NOT usable. Not good like at all. Karen does not have the vibe that Robyn needs to her hat business. Unfortunately, Robyn doesn’t want to use any of them. Ouch.
Wendy at the bar in a robe is a whole mood that I’m here for. It’s the first time I’ve ever related to that woman. Please give me more of THAT. Lot’s more.
Karen tells Candiace how proud she was of her after the previous night’s dinner. She held her ground. It’s not HER issue that Ashley has an issue. It’s good to see Karen making an effort to try to be Candiace’s friend still. These little moments go a long way after the debacle with Monique.

Ashley drops the bomb to Gizelle and Robyn that she wrote a statement for Monique’s case against Candiace. It’s so gross that she did that. She knows damn well the knife incident has no bearing on what happened at the barn.
Had Ashley been pushed that night to the point of violence against Candiace, that would be one thing. That’s not what happened though. This is purely out of spite and revenge. Not a good look for Ashley. Why is she insistent on riding for Monique this hard?
Monique having a family is NOT Candiace’s problem. Let me repeat. NOT Candiace’s problem. Perhaps, Monique should have thought of that before she put her hands on someone. She chose to take it to that level. Gizelle and Robyn feels the same way as me, so that makes me a little bit happy.
This entire thing is so maddening because how does everyone not see that Monique crossed the line. Candiace can be loud and obnoxious, but THAT is what you sign up for with this. Countless seasons of Housewives prove that. Therefore, I have no respect for Monique choosing to physically assault someone.
