Ashley Darby Thinks Candiace Dillard And Monique Samuels Can Resolve Their Differences

The final reunion episode for season 5 of Real Housewives of Potomac seemed damning for the friendship between Monqiue Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett. The saddest part was watching Gizelle Bryant try to remain out of the whole thing. Despite piggy backing her storyline-less ass to the debacle all season.

Unsurprisingly, Monique has decided it’s time to leave the show. This group has hit peak mess and manipulation, and it seems to have all fallen on her. That’s not to say she doesn’t carry blame for the physical altercation between herself and Candiace. But does she deserve all of it?

In an interview with Hollywood Life Ashley Darby was asked if she thought the cast divide over the infamous fight would or should continue. Specifically, she was asked if she thought the show could go on with both Monique and Candiace as cast-members. She responded, “I think that’s a really good question. And I asked myself that, too, but one of the beautiful things about being on Housewives and that I do appreciate, is we don’t really get the opportunity to run away from each other. And that’s a good thing.”

Ashley has never been one to keep her personal issues off screen. It’s what makes her a top Housewife. She explained her mindset in the interview, “So, like in your real life, you know, if you don’t like someone, even if you’re in similar social circles, you can avoid them at all costs. But now, if you don’t like someone, you still have to talk to them. You and you have to hash it out. And I think that that is a huge benefit of being a part of this show. So, Monique and Candiace, they can… I do believe that they can work it out. I think anything is absolutely possible. If I could get to a place of decency with Candiace after what she did to me, I definitely have hope that she and Monique could find some way to bury the hatchet.”

Ashley was also asked about her perception of Wendy Osefo and Robyn Dixon trying to gang up on Monique. They had clearly picked sides in her beef with Candiace. Ashley admitted, “I think that the ladies felt that Monique went too far. And yes, that is true. But where I think things get a little bit murky is some of their previously held ideas about Monique are now affecting their opinions now, because as I said, if everyone was able to move forward with Candiace after she tried to instigate a fight with me and they weren’t, you know, they’re like, ‘Oh, Ashley, it’s over. You have to get over it.’” So so so so so true.

Ashley also added, “So if I — if I’m being told that that’s the stance I need to take, then I think that there should be a little bit more understanding about Monique and realizing that this really is an issue between these two women. And they need to, you know, like let them work it out.”

Who knows. Maybe there’s a new tres or quatro-amigas team, only this time, on the East coast.
