I’m still sad that Real Housewives of Potomac is already over. Something about that franchise always leaves me wanting more. This season especially. There was plenty of shade and bickering amongst all the women. But the Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett fight rightfully dominated the season.
On the show, as well as the reunions, the cast made no qualms about whose side they were on. Monique didn’t have many allies but Karen Huger seemed to be one of them. The rest of the cast accused Karen of being too soft on Monique. And for her part, Candiace was big mad at what she perceived to be a betrayal by her friend Karen.
But Karen seems to have love for one and all, regardless of what happened. Despite Candiace still harboring some resentment, Karen shared her thoughts on their relationship with Page Six. Karen explained, “Candiace is definitely still in an emotional place as she shares her sincere feelings, that is a tough place to be.” She continued, “Moving forward, learning and growing is a healthier option. I do pray she gets there.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Candiace is feeling as optimistic. Of her current friendship with Karen, Candiace lamented, “You can say whatever it is you need to say to smooth it over, but I’m looking at your actions. As they say, actions speak louder than words. Karen’s actions from the beginning of this toxic fight and afterwards has been very difficult to peg and trust. I don’t see how we come back from that place.”

While Karen is one of my all time favorite housewives, I can’t help but feel like she might have played this a little wrong. Karen has always been a target of her castmates. Mostly for her, erm, penchant for stretching the truth. Who could forget when her cast members tried delivering pizza to the Huger Estate in an attempt to reveal that Karen didn’t really live there? It’s a housewives classic.
So while Karen has established herself as a fan favorite, her fellow cast doesn’t share the same sentiment for The Grande Dame. Karen being neutral in this matter only further alienated her from the rest of the cast, minus Ashley Darby, who is firmly Team Monique. Now that Monique has quit, what does that mean for Karen come next season? Will the ladies fully turn on her for not taking their side in this fight?

All that is yet to be seen but despite how Karen comes out of this, I have to admire her for sticking to her guns and refusing to take sides. Even if it means that Candiace is mad at her. Like Karen said, learning and growing is the healthier option. Maybe Candiace can try it sometime.
TELL US – DO YOU THINK KAREN HANDLED THE FIGHT WELL? DO YOU THINK CANDIACE IS CAPABLE OF GROWING? WILL THE TWO EVER BE FRIENDS AGAIN? DO YOU HOPE KAREN IS BACK FOR NEXT SEASON?
