Meghan King (formerly Meghan Edmonds) has come a long way since her Headband Detective persona on Real Housewives of Orange County. And while it’s been years since she’s been off the show, her personal life has remained firmly in the headlines.
It all started with her tumultuous divorce from perennial dad-jean wearing husband, Jim Edmonds. Things got messy and if we’re being honest, they still are. But Meghan seemed to move on in her own (lightening fast) way and found love with Christian Schauf. They were only together for six months but Meghan told us that he couldn’t take all the media attention. I wouldn’t be shocked if it also had something to do with the messy-ass state of her divorce but ok. We can believe both at the same time.
But Meghan is going to let this breakup get her down. In fact, she’s already moved on. According to Us Weekly, Meghan said she is seeing someone new after relocating to St. Louis.
Meghan shared, “I was kind of dating, but then the [coronavirus] pandemic hit when I was starting to date. … Then I’m dating in St. Louis, and that is a little bit more awkward.” Awkward indeed. As if dating wasn’t confusing enough, she continued, “When the guy comes to the front door, I’m like, ‘OK, do you come to the front door? Or do I allow you to be a gentleman, or do I hide my kids? Do I wait until they’re already asleep? How does this work?’”
Meghan fully admits she doesn’t have all the details figured out yet on how her dating life is going to work. But she does know that she wants to shield her kids from it. Well, she’s going to try.

She revealed, “But also, a part of me says, ‘Look, this is Mommy’s life.’ … I’m not going to have just a revolving door and make that a priority, my number one priority in my life.” Meghan added, “I feel like to hide it from my children is hiding a part of what they are experiencing, even peripherally, as part of their reality. I don’t want to do that either.”
With that said, Meghan believes in “a little bit of sheltering and a bit of introducing” potential partners is the way to go. Meghan said, “I’ve started telling my daughter I’m going on dates when I go out with my girlfriends too, so that she doesn’t think of going on a date is just I’m leaving her for a boy. I want her to think I’m just going out at night with a friend.”

Despite pressing on at lightning speed (Meghan and Christian broke up in November), sounds like Meghan has a good plan for how she’s handling dating. And let’s face it, no one wants to be alone. I hope Meghan uses good judgment, knows her worth, and finally puts this tumultuous divorce behind her. I think then she can truly start to be happy with someone else.
