Yesterday, a lot of people shared inspirational sentiments in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Thirst monster Real Housewives of Orange County alum Gretchen Rossi shared a post in his honor. However, she tainted the sentiment by taking the opportunity to promote a florist, which bothered some Instagram users.
Gretchen posted, “‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that’ -Martin Luther King.” After that, she wrote, “Gorgeous Flowers by @lafleureclose.” Seriously, Gretchen? That’s so absurd to include. Why even post a picture of yourself with flowers? What does that have to do with anything?
One Instagram user commented, “Is anyone going to question what this quote has to do with this ridiculous photo?”
Someone else told Gretchen, “Would have been a great opportunity to break up your feed and make it less about you and more about Martin Luther King Jr. I know. I know. It’s your feed, but what are you doing today to honor him?”

Another person remarked, “Leave it to Gretchen to post something of importance only to diminish it with a commercial. Ick.” Someone else quipped, “Yes, when Dr. King said that, it was in reference to floral arrangements, not racial injustice or resisting oppression.”
One IG user wrote, “What on earth does this picture have to do with your quote? You should have just shown a quote as the picture and not yourself or those flowers. Seriously.” Someone else commented, “The Tone deafness is BEYOND, girl.” Another person echoed those same sentiments, writing, “This. Is. Tone. Deaf.” Seriously.
