We don’t get to see much of Mary Cosby on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (other than awkward FacetTime calls from her closet), but the bits we have witnessed and heard about are enough to keep a conversation going.
From her marriage to her step-grandfather to her high fashion hoarding, there’s just a lot to unpack. And there are those rumors that she’s running a cult and that she’s used funds from her church members to buy her many homes and designer goods.
Mary addressed the rumors during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. Mary stated, “Clearly I’m not gonna get on national television, be a Housewife and be in a cult. Like, come on. I believe in my church.”
She said people have accused her family of running a cult since her “grandmother started the church.” She insisted, “There’s no cult. … My church members, they know those are false allegations. Those are ridiculous. It’s the people that are looking for fault.”

Then, she sort of addressed that audio footage that leaked of her demanding church members to give more money, insisting she did not take any of that money. Mary said the claims that she did are “so cruel.” She explained, “I feel like it’s so judgmental, because I am African American and a woman and I do have an eye for finer things in life.”
Mary promised, “I’m so not in it for the money. Oh my goodness, I believe in what I do, I believe in what I’m saying, and I love my church and I love what they are. … Money can’t fulfill that, not for me.” She also said she has such a luxurious lifestyle because she’s been “blessed” with family money. Additionally, she owns a number of businesses.

Mary remarked, But it’s not like I just have money coming out of the walls. These [designer] things that I have are collector pieces.” Interesting.
